| Post subject: Food Near Heng Shan Lu Metro Station |
Hey guys,
are there any good eateries near the heng shan lu metro station? Whether it be on foot or by cab (20-30 kuai ride tops). I'm looking for a nice, clean, tasty place, preferably chinese or at least asian food. i'll be going for dinner.
Thanks! |

There are some great ones.
If you like sichuan food i can recommend South Beauty (I think it's the corner of Hengshan Lu and Dong Ping Lu).
There is 1221 at 1221 Yan'an Xi Lu which is Shanghainese food (a 10 minute cab ride from there).
I went to a really nice place 2 weeks ago which was near Henghsan Lu called Peace Mansion- it's in a large old house set back from the street- it was very good with a fantastic atmosphere.
I'm sure the guys who have been here longer than me will have a bunch more suggestions. |

South Beauty is good, but it is fusion food, not 'real' Sichuan food. Prices a bit high for the portions, but the atmosphere is enchanting.

I agree with freedelia, Heng Shan Cafe is great, so is the dvd stall in front of it.
Indian Kitchen, on Yongjia Lu, near wulumuqi lu, is also very good.
Both places have very delicious food, and not expensive, but also quite crowded during peak time. Especially Indian Kitchen would require reservations. |

Not specifically Asian but Azul/Viva is consistently very good.. range of different flavours and styles.. good fusion (Great set lunch deal). Edwardo (Owner) has just opened Bambou upstairs though haven't tried it yet.. SE Asian food.
Dongping Lu, Hengshan Lu |

I didn't mind Azul, but he's obviously south american or at least his food style is.
It's good (i used to live in south america and love empanadas and such) but I like Las Tapas in gubei for tapas much more.
TGIF- ugh... I ate there last night and felt like I had eaten a bucket of lard. That's the second bad experience so I'm not going back. |
