| Post subject: How hard is it to get a Z visa, before first visit to China? |
Call me spoiled (I arrived in Australia with permanent residence,
ie, before ever having set foot on the continent), but I'd love to
have the security of a Z visa to China without having to worry
about overstaying an L (or whatever) or getting into legal strife
after getting caught working without a proper work permit.
What were your experiences getting a Z (or whatever is nearest
to a permanent / long term work/residence permit)? Can it be
taken from you (ie, if you're law-abiding & don't get into strife
with law, etc.)?
What are some of the legitimate ways to get one directly?
On me: I'm educated (B Sc, M Sc) experiences (while ago in IT &
technologies; more recently, teaching high school in Oz).
I've worked professionally in N Amer, N Europe & (of course)
Oz. I'd have some costs, while away from Oz, so I'd be looking
to minimizing costs and/or - better - maximizing earnings, ie,
while away in Shanghai, getting to better know my friend &
learning my way around the new context.
I'm not Chinese, and my local language skills are minimal,
at this stage.
Who are the larger companies (or smaller ones, or schools)
worth knocking on the doors of (ie, if a sponsor is needed)?
Can I do it all myself, without a specific sponsor, eg, to skip
the risk that - if an employer turns out not to be the right one
for me - I can job-hop to a better one, without having to leave
the country?
I have a friend, in SH, who's happy to invite me to visit her,
but we've never met face-to-face. So, having a "Plan B"
would be good, just in case.
Advice? Tips? Stories of your successful path(s) to a Z visa?
TIA |

do you even care to press the "search" button first than being spoon feed everything? geesh...
Good luck anyway.. without the local language ability your best chance would be to get a job in your home country and get transferred here.... |

You have a point... On the other hand, from what I've gleened from this (or related forums), things change, so why not try to get the latest, eh? I've not yet had any joy from the Embassy (perhaps I am a bit impatient...) or its web site. |

Z Visa is a Single Entry Visa used to enter China for the purposes of obtaining a Work Permit.
Upon acquiring the Work Permit, you then apply for a Resident Visa.
Only way of getting a Z issued is to have a job offer in China. |
