| Post subject: Travelling outside China on a Z Visa |
Hey everyone!
Sorry to be the first post question asker, but this looks like the best place to get a straight answer. I've just started teaching at a school in Songzi, Hubei, and a friend of mine is going to be in Japan next month which coincides with my week off. So basically I'm hoping to go to Tokyo for a few days, but I'm unsure what kind of travelling is possible on a Z Visa/Residents Permit(which I'll get in a few days). I dont want to go to Japan and find out I cant get back into China! |

Z is the Single Entry Visa that is assued as a predecessor to your Residence Permit.
If what you have in your passport is a sticker that says:
"Residence Permit For Foreigner in the Peoples Republic of China"
That is an unlimted Entry/Exit permit for travel in and out of China |

As stated when you get your Residence Permit it allos to to come and go without restriction. It also means no hassles when going through immigration. Customs are still Customs though so nothing changes there. |

As P1atl10 says, if you now have a Residence Permit, it is essentially a multientry visa for exit and entry purposes. Go have fun! |

Ahh thanks for the speedy replies! That is really good news. It was such a hassle getting the Z Visa in the first place that I kind of assumed it would be near impossible to leave and return. Thanks again! |

Gav....A "Z" Visa is NOT a residence Permit.
And is normally Single Entry...which if you are in China you have already used!
What does your say? Specfically. |

^ he started work already in Hubei and he gets his documents back in a few days. i would venture to say he has a residence permit coming, so no more Z visa...already used and cancelled. |
