Post subject: Please tell me what you think!!!

1. Why is the local are so proud to use fake stuff and they are very proud of it?
2. Why they love to cheat people? Do they believe KAMA?
3. Why they love to jump in line? Did the parents teach them to wait in line?
4. Do they has any common sense? When you try to buy something at the department store you have to go to so many counters to pay and collect stuff that you purchase.

That actually reminds me of my childhood in the UK where department stores had one central cashier on each floor. It's just another aspect of Shanghai that makes me realise the city is some 30 or 40 years behind the west in many respects. Not necessarily a bad thing.

It's not just China. There are scams everywhere. In England there's a TV show called something like Secrets Of The Scam Artists which every week shows common scams people use to cheat others.

1) Depends. Shanghai girls are *very* proud to show off their real handbag/shoes/clothes.
Personally I don't mind buying fakes, quality is typically same or better. Yes, there are better quality fakes than the real product.

2) Its Karma, not Kama. Really depends on who you are dealing with. If you build a relationship with a vendor, you don't get ripped off. Some people are very short sighted, but thats the same everywhere, not just China.

3) There are reasons for that. The 50's - 70's in China weren't exactly the best times. So, no, parents would probably not teach about queue's. The single child policy also has exacerbated things a little with the me, me, me generation. Give it another generation to get back to what it was.

4) State run stores are *deliberately* run like that to employ more people.

Similar things happen in other countries.

For example back in my home town, they removed parking meters to replace them with attendants, so that they could employ people. (This of course has led to other related issues, but thats a whole different kettle of fish).

Lawrence.

blah....blah...........
1. we are not proud to use fake stuff. If most of us can get your salary, you can observe whether we will buy fake stuff. Just as our poorness, sometimes we have to do that. It's so funny you say we are proud to use fake stuff. I'd like to say you are really an idiot.
2. What the hell are you talking about? We don't love to cheat people. You mustn't critisize all the locals because of one's fault.
3. Maybe what you said is true in this aspect. Thus, China's social civilization needs time. Most people have just extricated themselves from poverty and hunger in the past 30 years. This phenomen will become less and less in the future as the economics develop and the people's quality improve
4. common sense........Don't talk about your so-called " common sense" with us. you know Chinese "common sense?

There is a saying in China " 既来之,则安之“。。。。Don't always complain.

1. They are proud if it looks good on them. They are also proud in supporting their own economy. Fakes are local made. But most CHinese really don't wear fakes and despise it. There's plenty of local made stuff that's better quality and cheaper.

2.If you see bad people enjoying life having a blast like buying a table at a club and driving a Ferrari, while the good man works hard, so hard he does overtime everyday and then dies off with a heart attack. That's Karma ain't it?!

To locals MNCs are total cheaters! They see the overpriced branded good and say "That's like cheating people!!!!" I mean how much are real Blue Ray DVDs? Show them that price tag and locals will probably faint on how you can be so stupid to pay such a price for just a DVD.

3. China just got in the international market. Expect to see foul behaviour. Even classy Chinese are ashamed and disgusted by such behaviours. Their parents taught their kids how to survive. Being too considerate just gets you left behind and sometimes at a loss.

Example: A bus comes every 2 hours (no taxis or subways come by here). Only 5 spaces left, but ten people waiting. You're at the back of the line. Will you be humble and wait another 2 hours for another bus or squeeze you way through for a chance to be on that bus?

4.I have to agree with this. They have a counter in a section but they tell you you can't pay here, you have to go to the main paying place. Pay and then get your fa piao then go all the way back to collect. Good news is when you come back to collect its all packed up nicely for you to grab. So no real problems here, just getting use to their system.

Its a whole different mentality here.

I agree with your observation. To add to it,

1. Some or most of us want things to show off. For locals, it’s the fake LV or the real ones if they can afford it. For people in other parts of the world, it could be something else. Look at all the “statement” homes built in the remote areas of California and purchased by mortgages barely real.

2. Cheating in China takes more primal forms. Where in the Western corporate world I used to reside, attorneys, accountants, PR firms, marketing executives and whoever that can get a dip in the pot help to create systems and structures that justify or exonerate the deeds, of course, for a (very steep) fee. We may add politicians and lobbyists to that rank. I’ve seen the other kind too in U.S. – employees at a friend’s restaurant would take home slabs of prime beef everyday until they were caught red-handed and fired.

3. well.....

4. Common sense only makes sense if it applies to local environment. The department stores here are set up differently than most in the West. The most intriguing setup I’ve found is the one where manufacturers rent space in a store, hire the store’s staff to sell its products, the store collects money for goods sold and settles with manufacturers regularly after inventory counting. As a result, it calls for different arrangements (inventory and payment separation) than most consumers in developed countries take for granted.

How do you know they are proud? or it's just how you feel?
2. Why they love to cheat people? Do they believe KAMA?
Are you been cheated? If you believe in Karma, you should see it as a result. What kind of people do you social with? you sure you won't be cheated in other place?
3. Why they love to jump in line? Did the parents teach them to wait in line?
The parents teach kids how to survive in the world first. what did you do to change it if you hate it so much insteand of complaining online?

Personally I'm imagining my self on the Rugby pitch when exiting the Metro. At around 6,2 and with pretty broad shoulders, it's been working out quit nice so far I must say.

Yelling in Swedish to anybody that tries to jump the line (when I'm in it) also seams to be a winner.

Cheers

You can understand all you asked if you live with average level of China, there is not enough products and the traditional philosophy is still working on poeple's mind. But what will you think you will say 20 years later?

for the first three questions, if more than 50% get higher education,it won't be that bad now; plus, things happen in developed countries too, don't forget we have a much larger population, thus, the chance you see is much larger. For the last question I don't know the answer.

...easy easy I love my country, too....

1 In my opinion some middle-age think the LV is a pattern rather than a brand...its funny and sarcasm...we dont proud of it...we just care about the price...made in China only glue a trademark in europe then sell it twice the price...make no sense to me...yeah..maybe chinese are too mart to do the fake business...also be obliged in such a western Darwin society..and in our culture craftman and designer are long to be showed no respect...also can ring a bell

2 Karma? this question is a little stupid...maybe u just too easily to be fooled..i guess...sorry to say that...did u also be cheated by that chinese woman:))lol

3 because the line sometimes is too long to wait...we have huge population...well...i have to agree...me myself try to queue all the time and I hate ppl who dont...especially buying train tickets

4 walk helps...take ur time enjoying shopping...or u can buy fake...i promise the seller doesn't know the brand..all the same to them just a way to survive the market economy

The wises don't question or even doubt about the actual fact, instead, what they thought they were supposed to do is to accept and deal with the fixed fact without any fuss or whinge. Chill out, dude, get yourself a hot shower, look into the bright side and neglect the dark, otherwise you'd depreciate and shrink into a fcuktard like other losers who have got totally fcuked by their twisted mindsets here.

1. Yes, if I were you, it is always better to buy a cheaper handbag instead of a luxirious "real" one, simply becuase they are providng the the same fuctions and almost equivalent in terms of the quality, they become worthless as long as I take the "LV" logo away.

There are also seas of people flood into the franchised store to buy the so-called authentic goods, you are not blind.

2. If I were you, I won't talk about KARMA like that bitch blonde Sharon Stone when I stay in China. The word hurts so much that could make people slap you in the face.
Ok you said Chinese like cheating, well, i could you why, there are 1.3 billion people living in the mainland although I don't know how many people there are in your country I guess probably the population in China would be much larger than yours (you are entitled to argue if you come form India)
Now you are in China, which leads to more chance of you to get in touch with Chinese people and unfortunately you are cuned, hence all the Chinese are claimed as cheaters now.

3. They should not have jumped the line not you but also many Chinese who obey the rules are being harmed by those queue jumpers, splitters, jaywalkers. Its about the education system, nobody instructs them what is right and no public surveillance.

4. Come on we are just a developing country with a GDP per capita merely USD1000 annually, its not walsteert thx.
