Bangkok or Tokyo are the closest....and pretty much only....options.
You do know that Shanghai is still part of China? Right? |

Buy beer, go to a shop with pink lights, bring your own mat (not justbeer Mat) or something clean to sit on, and enjoy the show. Remember to leave or burn whatever it was you sat on. |

Chinese government is very conservative about pornography and sex industries generally. (noticed no nude magazines in the convenience stores)
Although hookers are ubiquitous in Shanghai. |

It's a niche market that has not been touched! You can try and open one and be the monopoly in shanghai!
Right now the only closest thing to strip bars is HOOTERS. |

OP, you can go to Hong Kong. There are strip clubs there. I've also heard that in the inland there are things like that, but I haven't traveled outside Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, so I haven't seen them personally. |

I'd have thought you could get KTV girls to strip for you, especially if you go to some of the slightly less reputable ones. Might be a bit weird in one of them little karaoke rooms though. Also can't imagine it'd be cheap... |

I am surprised no one has mentioned the 3 Sisters bar on Fengyang Lu yet, or maybe it's supposed to be a secret........
Anyway, I went there once and there is a stripper pole brought out after 10pm, and girls in bikinis offer you lapdances for free, no charge, no 'girl drinks', free. |

The cynic in me would say that maybe they were just practising on us young lads (or just bored) until the old boys came in later on and emptied their wallets. |
