| Post subject: Puxi & Pudong |
Hi to all
Can everyone tell me what they like & dislike about Puxi & Pudong?
Ive done a little research but would love to hear the opinions of those who have experiences first hand.
Many thanks in advance. |

Pudong isn't nearly as bad as either Connecticut or New Jersey, you guys. That's a terrible comparison. |

Pudong: less crowded, wider streets, less traffic.
On the negative side, there is less nightlife over here, and you will find yourself having to travel over to Puxi for many things.... but hey, Puxi is only a short subway ride away!
I haven't lived in Puxi, so I can't comment on life over there.... I suspect the choice between Puxi and Pudong will largely be determined by whereabouts you will work. |

Some description of preferences would be helpful: what are you looking for...you want to live on either side or is it just getting opinions in the broadest sense? |

Yes - just opinions in the broadest sense
How long does it take to get from one to the other? |

It depends on where you start, e.g., it will take you about 20min by metron line 2 to get Jingan in Puxi from Lujiazui in Pudong, which is the nearest place to Puxi in Pudong. |

Jing'An is at the centre (if not the very heart) of Puxi.
Once you get up on the road from the metro station (Line 2, Jing'An Temple), you'll be in a very good commercial spot (at least in my opinion), and everything else is just a few minutes away by foot or subway (by car may take longer due to congested traffic esp during rush hours). |

I used to live in PuXi, but since i moved to Pudong 3 years ago, i dont want to go back to Puxi anymore. I live near Longyang station, and it only takes me 30mins to reach People Square. |

People's Square is the heart of Puxi, 2 subway stops from Jing An Temple.
See subway/metro map below and it will tell you exactly how long it will take to get from any subway point A to point B and how much it will cost.

Nope....5 minute walk east of where I live. I would guess.
Guess, because I never walk that direction.
30 Minutes to Jing An. Yes. On a metro that stops running at midnight.
Pudong....enjoy the desolation.
Puxi...can walk 15 minutes from my place and have access to (literally) thousands of shops, eats, and drinks.
Depends on what you are looking for and what ease of access you would like for it. |

It happens to be a very good comparison....New Jersey and Connecticut are beautiful and more Burbs than City....If anything Pudong is not as nice as the Jersey Side or Conn. |

Not really I feel like the entirety of Pudong closes at around 9:30PM. It's really absurdly boring out there if you want nightlife, you will feel really remote. |

Besides opening hours you need to consider how convenient it is for you to get from where you live or work to these establishments you plan to frequent in Pudong. In Puxi most of the active expat night life is within easy walking distance from home or the subway. In Pudong, many places that are open later into the evening only have access by bus or taxi and not necessarily close to where you would live. |

Just to balance this out, I used to live in Puxi, and since I moved to Pudong 2 years ago for work reasons I've spent every waking minute plotting my future return to Puxi. I live in Zhangjiang High-Tech Park and it takes me about 45 minutes to get to People's Square (20 bus + 5 walking + 20 subway). |
