well as far as extreme horror goes, i dont think that any of the newer movies would cut it. I'd go for something older |

What kind of thing do you like? Pure start to finish gore or suspense leading up to bloody brutal violence? |

"Fifty First Dates" made me scream with pain, although I don't think that's quite what you meant. |

That Al Gore movie "Inconvenient Truth" was horrifically bad as a movie and as a piece of science. |

"The Others" with Nicole Kidman was pretty good.
"The Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis.
The original "Halloween".
"Fallen" was kind of eerie.
"The Reaping" was a nice surprise...better than what I thought it'd be being a biblical end of world type of film.
Thought the US version of "The Ring" was also good...but "The Ring 2" kind of sucked. |

Yes the Ring is good of course. Why are the Japanese so good at horror movies? |

"Reincarnation" is also another good suspense/scary movie from Japan.
"Saw" and "Saw 2" was pretty good. "Saw 3" was ok....going to watch "Saw 4" next week when I get the disc.
"Identity" with John Cusack (I think) had an interesting twist. |

As a kid, The Exorcist and The Thing were pretty scary and still are.
Later it was stuff like The 6th Sense and The Others. One can also throw in this nice one called Stir of Echoes.
The Ring and The Grudge are scary as shite movies as well.
Cheers

One of my all time favourites is "Hannibal", with Anthony Hopkins. Classic movie, but with good acting. Quite gory in places. I dont like movies that are supposed to be scary, but get so silly they make me laugh.
Try "heart stopper", and the "scary movies" series, 1-3or4, I think. |

"The Vanishing" really is scary I'd say. Not so much an all-out horror movie, but it definitely has one of the 'best' (if you can call it that) endings to a film I've ever seen.
Make sure you get the original Dutch (Flemish?) version of the film though. I think there may have been a Hollywood remake which kind of sucked. |

Scary Movie 1 & 2 was awesome...but 3 and 4 was kind of a dud. Wayans should kept making this series instead of handing it over.
Back on track....
Stephen King's "Salem's Lot", the original one and not the remake. This was a creepy film and had me jumpy at nights for some time.
Another Stephen King movie..."Pet Semetary"....the first one and not any sequel or remake.
Cannot forget "The Shining" with Jack! |

That disc is a drink coaster now (my gf at the time made me sit through it)....

If we're talking about gore, "Night of the Living Dead" was kind of funny.
"Friday the 13th" was also another good gore movie from the 80's. The "ch ch ch ch ch...." sound sends a chill up my spine.
Ooohhh....how about "Nightmare on Elm Street"! How did it go..."One two Freddy's coming for you; three four better lock your door; five six grab your crucifix; seven eight gonna stay up late; nine ten never sleep again"
"Thirteen Ghosts" was kind of cool.
"Hellraiser" was also good. Long live Pinhead!!!! |

Nightmare on elm street was great at the time, bought it for my daughers to watch recently and have to say it doesnt age well. They looked at me as if i was mental for even suggesting it was scary.
Watched the shining again recently classic film, need to watch with the lights out and undisturbed.
The ring is a good movie Saw 3 just turned my stomach.
2 othert good ones the blair witch project which is physcologically scary and hellrasier. |
