| Post subject: relocation company? |
I am moving to Shanghai around the end of May/beginning of June this year. It's not expat, so I will have to take care of the relocation (from US) myself and I will get localized pay.
I am wondering if someone can recommend some good relocation companies? I read a post on the forum mentioned "allied", so I googled and found http://www.alliedintl.com , not sure if it's the one. Anyway, I am curious where I can collect more information about relocation? I have a house, but I am not going to move any furniture or big equipments to Shanghai, but I do need to bring lots of books, four computers, four LCD monitors, and tons of my baby's toys over. For the house here, I plan to let property management rent out my house. I still plan to take vacation in my US home at least once a year.
Any comment is welcome. Thanks a lot! This forum is really helpful! |

I figured since I would keep my house and furnitures here, I won't bring lots of stuff to Shanghai. Maybe it's better for me to just rent a container. Does anyone have suggestion about container renting and delivery? I guess I will only need several square meters of space.
Thanks. |

Allied Movers are the one we used, but if you are doing it on your own dollar, you may want to research other options. They are probably the most delux and expensive option ( but very good service). Go to your yellow pages and look up freightforwarders in your area. You will probably need a contact address and phone number in Shanghai and then have to go down to customs and have it moved to your location. So you should be prepared for doing alot of the legwork your self, but it will be alot cheaper. |

Fiddler treid to pm you, but failed !
I am also interested in moving some personal effects to Shanghai from southern California.. app. 500 lbs weight.
Does your company provide door to door service ? That is also handling customs at both ends ? If so, could you e-mail me an approximate cost estimate ?
Thanks...
