I think so izanami. I think there are taxi drivers they would like to take such business as moonlighting or an additional income, but the only problem is reliability. |

until i got my car i had a taxi driver who picked me up for work and took me back in the evenings. If he could not make it another guy was there. on the weekends i phoned him up when i wanted to go somewhere from my place... probably only makes sense if you have more than a 20kwai taxi ride one way , which was the case with me...with one exception it worked for more than three months ( and that was my fault because I could not get out of bed ) |

I haven't posted on this string that I started for sometime but I've had bad experiences 4 consecutive days so am majorly peeved. In the end there is one thing I want to know. These cabbies always ask you where you want to go. Then they may ask you what route you want to go. After you tell them they decide to debate the route with you saying there is a better route. WTF!!! If you know a good route take it! Don't give me crap after asking what route I want. If you are a cabbie you should take the quickest most efficient route.
I'd list all the experiences I had these past four days, but it would be pointless. In short I've covered all polite approaches in dealing with the cabbies these past 4 days, and they still decide to act like idiots as if they are not guilty of being stupid, hiding behind the mask of "good heart to provide good service". |

Sorry to hear your bad experience with the local cabbies here. Some of them could be really nasty. However, take what Okido suggested - choose white, green, blue, yellow colored ones only. However, you may not know, ask guests about the route first then give suggestion if there is better route is one of their internal rules - they have to do it this way. They are trying to provide good service but some may do it a bit over.

Hum....I'm wondering how did this string end up under "Chinese Culture Discussions" category? Is this what moderators think of this topic? Interesting....Does that mean that moderators think that the stupidity of cab drivers is a cultural thing? |
