ok everyone. i'm not exactly new to shanghai but i feel new to shanghai. i've been in shanghai for a a few months now but have failed to meet some people who i can do things with that are not going out and drinking. i'm 24, studying chinese, speak russian, speak french really poorly, and i'm interested in design, art, literature, film, photography, going to museums, playing boardgames, eating lots of strange food, shoe shopping, vintage sneakers, fashion, and other various bits and bots. i'm interested in meeting all kinds of people, especially those who can remind me that it is possible to have fun and entertain myself without alcohol.
oh. i would also absolutely love love love love loveeeeee to find a drawing companion. so, if you like to draw. let me know. we can set up a date and uh... doodle. |

OK here goes.... (deep breath, gulp etc) I have just accepted a job teaching at an International School in Shanghai to start in Jan (gulp) so would love to meet a few people to hang out with and point me in the right direction of the best places to go.. Alot of the people who teach at the school seem to be married couples, who I am sure are great people but probably not up for doing a great deal of stuff with us singletons!!
Am in my 30's (but dont let that put you off!), from the UK, into theatre, films, games nights and having a bloody good giggle about just about anything..
I hope I meet some 'normals' on here!!

Wow, an International School eh? IB, by any chance? If so, yer gonna be filthy stinking rich! Lucky you! So why all the gulping????
Anyway, loads of foreigners here to hangout with. You shouldn't have any problem meeting some mates or chicks. Don't stress yourself out about coming to Shanghai... in many ways it's freer than the UK (less surveillance for one), a helluvalot cheaper than London (about 20% the cost I figure) and there must be a few hundred thousand Western folk here to keep ya company. |
