Best-mistress contest takes fatal turn at its finish

THE loser of a bizarre talent contest drove her former lover and the man's four other mistresses off a cliff in eastern China's Shandong Province in an apparent fit of anger, killing herself and injuring the others.
The survivors told police the crash was an accident, but a letter left by the dead woman revealed the details of an unusual competition gone awry. According to the document, the businessman was going to lay off four of his five mistresses due to financial trouble. The women were allowed to vie for the remaining position by competing on their looks, their singing and speaking and their ability to drink alcohol, the Qingdao-based Peninsula Metropolis Daily newspaper reported yesterday.
The case dates back to December 6, when police in Qingdao received a report that a car had crashed through the guardrail of a mountain highway and plummeted into a deep valley. The female driver died at the scene while five others, including a man, were sent to a hospital.
Police thought at first it was simply a traffic accident involving friends on a leisure trip. But the parents of the dead woman, identified as a 29-year-old surnamed Yu, told police that a man surnamed Fan was to blame.
Yu left behind a letter that claimed she and the four other women were Fan's mistresses. Fan met Yu in 2000 in a Qingdao restaurant where she worked as a waitress, the report said. The Shanxi native reportedly became Fan's mistress shortly thereafter and lived with him in a two-room apartment bought by the man.
Fan, a married entrepreneur, also kept other four mistresses - two of whom were his employees and two his former clients, the report said.
Fan introduced the five to each other, but none chose to break up with him, as each reportedly received 5,000 yuan (US$733) a month plus a rent-free apartment.
But business began to go bad, and Fan decided to lay off all but one mistress to save money, according to the newspaper report. To select the best one, he reportedly staged a talent show in a hotel last May, even inviting an instructor from a local modeling agency to be a judge, although Fan did not reveal his true purpose.
Yu was knocked out in the first round based on her looks, and a Ms Liu eventually took the crown after she won the drinking contest.
When Fan told Yu she had lost her position and he was selling her apartment, she decided to take revenge, the newspaper said.
The crash happened after Yu invited Fan and the other four women to tour Laoshan Mountain, a scenic site in Qingdao, before she returned to her home province.
Fan shut down his company after the crash, and his wife demanded a divorce after learning about his affairs. Fan later paid 580,000 yuan to Yu's parents as compensation for her death. And the other four mistresses went off on their own. |

Although... I guess technically, these weren't really mistresses. Given they got income from him, the proper term is WHORES... |

Yes I read an article about poor Chinese migrant workers in Guandong that are being offered jobs at 800 rmb a month.
And the migrants were quoted as blaming the Americans because some greedy factory owner want then to work for peanuts a day.

I was just checking the arithmetic. Not counting rent fees, he was spending 25,000 a month. Now I guess that in that province, a girl goes for at most 100 yuan per pop. So that's more than 250 pops per month? Or ten per day? Can anyone explain this? |

Oh yeah? What makes you say that? Having affairs is never accepted or expected in Chinese culture. There are always married men out there who like to play around, but certainly it is not simply pure Chinese thing. My aunt left my uncle when she discovered that he was having an affair with another woman. At the time they have been married for many years. They eventually got back together again because later he realized that he was so wrong and begged for forgiveness.

Most girls find it acceptable for a guy to have extra girlfriends (see Jeffinflorida). Most girls here have a couple boyfriends they're playing with according to several members from here who have seen it.
In America it's usually one affair within marriage and it usually ends in divorce. In China it's usually multiple mistresses or sex partners and it usually doesn't end in divorce. That is what I've gathered so far, like it or not. |

Most Chinese girls they never make fool on multiple mistresses or many sex partners together at same time, so please don't mislead it or disorder your words in here, anyway, if I find some relationship it can not be 100 percent successfully to me to deal with, then I will never touch it, cause just someone he has waited for me for more than 2 years for love in town and second is that someone he has showed me all his friends publicly in some places, so I don't know how far some relationship it can run in my futures. I just don't think any chinese girls they really have couple boyfriends that can stupidly to play with in nowadays, cause it is so insane to disgrace some people themselves in front of all their friends in the rests of their own. |

Thanks so much for your kindest encouragement, so let me tell you something in this Monday morning, cause I have to show someone that I never ignore him and I never want to be arrogant to treat someone in here.
So last time when I met someone his friend in Saturday coffee meeting, then someone his friend just told me that I should take some risk on love or relationship for myself, so after I told Coffeehawk that I had to study for more than 2 years in somewhere on MSN Messager and after I really took my risk and after I really spent my time on knowing someone his personality in my last 2 or 3 years in town and also after someone he really showed me all his friends publicly in somewhere, then I thought someone he should make a decision for what he really wanted to get in nowadays, cause if someone he just wanted to sex with me, then I would only make some nice friendship with someone without any hesitation , so I always think about the way of how can I keep someone forever in my life and yes, I hope all time about how I drive someone to spend his last 2 or 3 years for love for both us, it won't be valueless finally in here, cause I never want to ignore someone and I neither want to be arrogant to treat someone in some places, so I guess someone he is going to shoot me for what I am saying in his next second,oh, hahahah, how evil and tough I can be! Life so amazing, I have to say.  |
