Hi,
I am relocating to Shanghai in May and was wondering if it is pssible to import my motorbike into China. If so what is the procedure? It is a 600CC Honda CBR Year-2000.
Thanks

You pack it and ship it. In theory they have lifted the quota system on bikes. But its best to check with your shipper.
If its for use on the road, well, forget about it. Not possible in Shanghai.
If you wish to use it outside Shanghai, then you need to pay tax etc. And thats real complicated, so you better talk to an expert importer.
If you wish to race it in the new Shanghai race circuit, then you can talk to me!

Can you actually buy a scooter or motorbike in Shanghai, and if yes, what are the requirements to drive them?

Slowbiker,
Hi Slowbiker,

My husband is planning to get a Harley, and ship it to Shanghai, when we relocate in September, and really desperately need some information on how it works in Shanghai.
He is presently having a 250 Phathom, and is looking at the 88s Sporster, but on his driving license he is only allowed to 400cc.

Are motorbikes not allowed on the road?
How does the driving license work there, does it goes by cc category?

Please kindly give me some information.
Thanks a lot.

i think thigs are easy up to 175 cc. Haven't seen many bigger ones here, though saw an R1 and an HD in the Ferrari-store along Yan an lu.

Been wondering myself how to get a big bike registered here ? within past few years, not much light on that respect
