| Post subject: Acting as an Agent for foreign company |
I have been trying to get a definitive answer on the best way to set up as an agent for a foreign company in China. Setting up as a WFOE or a JV with a Chinese partner seems expensive and more suitable for bigger ventures, so I was wondering if there are alternatives. Essentially, I would be acting as a sales representative for a service provided from another country and take commission from the projects I bring in. I want to keep set-up costs to a minimum and so don't want to have to have an office initially. I know I can register a company in HK and set up an RO here, but not sure how to get around the issue of billing clients. Also, I have a good Chinese friend I want to include in this. Would it just be easier to set up the business in their name and work with them until the business develops? Is there anybody else out there who has set up this kind of business and/or can give me some advice? Would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks. |

You wanna set up your company by registering your Chinese friend his/her name in there?
Hum, then you must pay the benefits and share the financial rates together with your chinese friend and even you invest your money in your business, but it sounds not really rational when your initiative you wanna run it for your business in your further days, but who knows, maybe money always talks in the world, cheers. |

| You can find a registered company here (WFOE or Chinese) and have a billing arrangement with them, they bill your client and provide the invoice, and receive the cut of every payment they transact. A lot of consulting companies would be able to help you doing so. |
But If I were you, I would never ask any consulting company to help my payment arrangement, cause it also always burns the money and suit my case into those consulting businessmen at same time and I also will always get the risks and troubles from those consulting business companies, yeah, cheers ! |

| There is no friendship in business here in China. Believe it. |
I have good relationship with all my suppliers, they are all my friends. OK I am not naive and always watch prices. On the other hand I pay them with delay, I permanently owe them hundreds of grands US so they trust me too. |
