I got the above mentioned system for 900 RMB thru my colleague. I had the dream dish all they did was changing the dream box and LNB and hooked it up via internet. Now we have all the movie channels again + more and Starsports plus ESPN.
Dont know how long it will last but for only 900 i couldnt resist. |

The only difference is that you dont get the practice sessions live or the advert free qualifying and races.
For me advert free sports is a must. |

By the way... your pirate HK CABLE TV Satellite is changing encryption system soon as well to a system that will not work with your pirated dreamboxes.
All decoders and cards to be exchanged soon. Sorry about that.

If they take away the HK part, I'll just have to make due with the leftover international (just like old Dream), Taiwan (a good ESPN + 2-3 other English movie channels), and Japanese porn that would still be part of this package. Life will somehow go on.

Not from HK satellite..... and HK doesn't have 7000 islands which are hard to reach out to. They will simply switch off old boxes and have people exchange in HK at the licenced dealers. Easy to arrange in HK. Small place
EPSN STAR Taiwan.... get a lot of basbeall and pool as only 1 game EPL Saturday and 1 game Sunday .... mostly a delayed replay.. but great for replays of baseball all year
Dream TV channels will probably return by then |

To the best of your knowledge Jim, do you really need a 1.8m+ dish to pick up the Australia Network free-to-air from the 166E Intelsat 8? How could anyone get away with that install?
It seems that it will never again be available through Dream (must be too popular) and I'm really hanging out to see Bananas in Pyjamas again!! |

Australia Network is on Dream TV. Has been there for years. Still there, has been on new encryption since last year and some of the other channels follow suit 16 June apparently.
You might get away with a 1.2m for IS8. By the way I will be in China Sunday week installing several 2.4m and 3m dishes for clients.
However I have IS8 on a 1.8m solid Cband dish with a quad out LNB |

Jim, Im still dealing with our landlord to see what he will get for us...
He just came back from UK and will talk to him tonight.
I looked around and I like the South African satelite tv. So, for this we will need a huge dish, right? Can I put it on the garden, or on the roof? |

The dish needs a clear line of sight, no bushes schrubs or walls in the way.
You need a 1.8m diameter dish Iara. Rooftops are best. By the way we can install a dual out LNB so you can have 2, 3, or 4 separate cables to have the signals going to 4 separate places off one dish. So you and your landlord could share one dish.
However it is better to have a 2.4m as DSTV recently had power problems and many lost signals on several channels in China. Seems better now though so a 1.8m is the minumum.
The DSTV South Africa dish needs to face south west 255 degrees and you need to make sure no taller buildings are in your line of sight.
Take some photos facing towards the sun at around 5pm abd email them to me of the rooftop and garden spcae I can tell you what is best place to install the dish.
Regards
Jim |

Sat Tv, ur a pro, maybe u can help me. or anyone. please..
Since my HBO, Star n Discovery travel n living is gone, i asked the guy who installed for me to bring it back. he came and offered me another box, also asking if i have "kuan dai" -not sure what it means- but he was pointing at my wifi router, so maybe asking for internet connection. the price he is asking is 530rmb.
My question is, what is he offering me? an internet tv or just another pirated satelite tv? and is there any chance the new one -if i agree to install- wont have the same problem as the one now? btw, i think mine now is dream tv.
thanks a bunch. |

WHat he is offering is a pirated system. Any genuine system has a pay card in it. IF he offering you the HK Satellite don't take it as they are changing encryption to stop those little internet pirate boxes as well soon.
The reason many here say my systems are expensive is beacuse they use legitimate pay cards. Yes they cost money and the subscription prices are on the providers websites.
Just tell your installer you want to see the pay card in your receiver and see what he says
Dream TV with legitmitate decoders doesnt have HBO Cinemax EPSN STAR Sports but they do have the Discovery &Travel & Living and Star World & Star Movies. |

I'm currently running the little Dreambox +internet connection box. Watching channels via 134, 138, & 146. The bummer about it, which I haven't seen mentioned here, is that HBO, Cinemax, Discovery, etc. come with Chinese subtitles that you can't make go away. I don't suppose there is a way around them.
And please, for the love of sweet baby Jesus, no replies from SatelliteTV (Jim). I don't want to hear one damn thing about using my internet connection to stream channels from wherever. Knock it off already.

I have no concern if you have internet based dm. Yes you can get Intelsat8 166E with a 1.2m perhaps.. I use a 1.8m dish for Australia Network. You will need a card to watch the Rugby as that is encrypted, but the rest is broadcast fta. BBC ( NTSC) and MTV China and some other good channels on there too.
You cannot remove the subtitles as they are part of the broadcast and cannot be switched off. You get used to them after awhile. Australia Network also sometimes has subtitles which cannot be removed as well.
The dollar sign is shown when encrypted for sports

OK all you Satellite gurus:
I had a pirate Dream TV for 4 years which died on June 15 (as we all know).
I am out of Shanghai for the next 2-3 months (in the north).
Sharing an apartment, want English TV.
The local Sat TV guy gives me 2 options;
A) Buy a legit Dream TV system, box, card and 1 year service.
B) Buy a pirated HK (I think) system, box, card, service.
Dream has dropped a lot of channels, with no idea if they will reinstate same.
The HK system requires hookup to the internet, with no guarantee how long it will stay up or what channels are offered.
The internet here is through telephone line - very slow, to the modem, then a wireless router for our laptops, can this be used rather than wired directly to the box, or will I need to change the router to one with ports?
A little confused - so what the hell has the internet box have to do with Sat TV - no dish required?
I'll bring the equipment back with me for reuse in SH. |

The HK decoder is a card sharing box where one person ( your agent ) has the card and you pay for the service. It is pirated but generally works. However many agents are playing dumb, the HK satellite is changing their encryption system as well to stop the card sharing boxes next few months apparently. OF course no guarantee and they know it
A genuine Dream TV decoder with 12 months costs rmb3050 delivered. Dream TV has no plans to reinstate removed channels at this time. ESPN STAR Sports removed themselves from Dream TV.
I have an IPTV service you can watch worldwide. But it costs a lot more for the 120 plus TV channels and 70 satellite radio channels we have on there.
If you want guarantees of uninterupted service buy a genuine systems. No broadcaster guarantees content but there is a lot to choose from. This is what we offer.

Thanks for the info.
As I believe now, the HK is pirated and not trustworthy because they will change encryption at months end. It it solely internet-based, with no dish required - correct?
Dream TV is a waste of money without all the channels as before.
As you are in Shanghai, I doubt you will come up here to North Bumblefuck to install a system for 3 months, then reinstall it in Shanghai. or is it just plug and play, anyone can install - just need the equipment and an ISP. I suppose it's not able to use a wireless internet, must be hard wired. I would never need that many channels plus music.
How would a slow ISP affect the performance, I have trouble now with videos from CNN, MSN, ESPN, etc. Choppy video and poor audio. |

HK Satellite requires a dish and satellite receiver. The receivers use a net connection to access a pay card that you dont have in your home. But that will stop when the HK satellite changed encryption to prevent these card sharing boxes from pirating the content.
My IPTV service you only need to download the software and you can try it for free to see how it runs for you. Each client has their own private fiber 2mb upload line at my side which are not shared.
http://forum.taiwansatellite.tv/ff/hava_v1.8.1.36.exe
Do download the software to a Windows based PC then contact me on skype blackcrusader so you can test the system. We need to show you how to setup the software for a test account. It is plug and play.
We have customers way out in XinJiang Wulumqi and Kashgar so you are not really in the boonies of China yet.
When you go to public sites the bandwidth for the videos is shared, not so with my IPTV solution. |

So the IPTV system does not need a dish or TV box, everything is done through software installed on the PC. As long as my laptop can get any signal (wired/WiFi), I have TV at my fingertips anywhere - correct? And the ISP bandwidth speed will not matter? Check PM. |

Yes you can watch anywhere. IPTV you do not need dishes. PC can also be hooked up to the TV for viewing as well.
Sometimes I sit in Sashas and watch using their wireless system. I travel in many areas of China and watch on wireless connections or in hotels.
But yes also the ISP bandwidth does matter. You cannot stream if you have no bandwidth at all. Some of our customers in China only have 1mb downloads and are streaming well enough.
Some of my clients in China are streaming on 3G |

Hey guys why dont you try the Dreambox pacakages? I have just installed a dreambox system connected to Hong Kong and Taiwan satellites and can receive, amongst others, HBO, Cinemax, ESPN Asia, ESPN Taiwan, Star Sports Asia, Star Sports Taiwan, I-Sports, I-Super Soccer, NBA TV, PGA Tour TV. I have Premier League games and Formula 1.
The amount I paid was only 3000RMB which included equipment, installation and 1 year subscription. |
Hmmm 3000rmb for a pirated satellite system that just went off after 5 months on the HK satellite. Good investment for 6 months when we all knew it was going off that's why the installers were selling it even at 900rmb they needed to get rid of their dreamboxes.
Taiwan satellite only costs a few $$ for the legitimate pay card anyways, around US$185 per year.
You can get that from DSKY directly no need to pay agents..
http://www.dsky.com.tw/ service@dsky.com.tw
You can get the genuine HK Satellite decoder from Jie at Shanghai Dream on this forum. |
