If you do not have Australia Network then you most likely have a pirate box.
Even if you do not have a pirated box ESPN STAR HBO CINEMAX are gone for good. Not sure about Ben Sports. |

Removed from Dream TV's system is the 890 package which had Animax, Hallmark, HBO Cinemax, ESPN STAR
No idea if they plan to bring that back. |

s'all right. Still beats paying RMB 3000 for a legit Dream box plus annual renewal. Will miss Cinemax--was getting into the "True Blood" series, but have since found all episodes online. HBO pretty much sucked--all Steven Segal all the time. I am much happier with the movies on the newly added French channel. |

I talked to the Dream customer service people in the Philippines and they have no idea if or when those channels will be back on. Apparently Dream is "in negotiation" to bring them back but have not reached an agreement. Are there any other providers in Shanghai for these channels? |

Really? Maybe you should look at the providers websites and see how much the subscriptions costs before you make claims like this.
You obvioulsy have no idea of what content providers charge per year. |

No, I obviously have no idea.
I still think it is expensive. I suppose the customer is always wrong in some countries/places though, hence attitudes like yours exist. |

So, that is US$290 to buy the equipment, plus US$1020 for a 12mth subscription, which must be renewed every 12mths. Is that right??
thanks in advance |

Inspite of this, there are always chances that the Great Firewall of this country can block the signals and you loose everything, just like the case of youtube. They just need to plug the hole. |

Miss Beverly actualy it's not about the customer being wrong. For you yes it may be too expensive but for most people it's not. It's about understanding the actal costs of subscriptions from other providers.
Most providers such as Truevisions and DSTV have packages that start from US$30 to over US$60pm. To get all the channels available one must subscribe to the top flght packages. In the USA or Australia or the UK top flight packages cost ver US$85 to US$150pm.
We provide top flight systems and have a 24 hours tech support service. No other company has this. It costs money to provide the services my customers expect to have. Thats why in other threads you will see some of my customers saying they are very pleased with both the content they have and the service support 24 hours a day that my company provides.
Last year one of my bar customers in Wulumuqi in Xing Jiang spilt a pitcher beer over their keyboard. They were already streaming but could not change channels. So when they needed a channel change they sent a text message to my tech support and we changed channels for them when needed. |

Once the first 12 month contract is completed clients are not bound to a second 12 months, they can go to 3 month contracts. Short term contracts are more expensive.
Some customers may leave China for other countries where they may not need my services.
However the service is cheapest when paid upfront as most providers will give you an extra month subscription if you pay 11 months up front. I do the same for my broadband services. |

Shine you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. There are direct fiber lines from Taipei into Shanghai and many other areas of China. SO we are INSIDE what you call the Great Firewall of China.
I have thousands of IP addressess to choose from... My services do not come from publicly listed URL's like you tube.
Last year the Big Bamboo had a problem connecting so we simply shifted them to new IP's temporarily.
We did a trace to see where the problem was and made changes to the allocation tables and gor it sorted them moved them back to the same IP's they have been using. Not had a problem since.
Maybe you can go and speak to JC. He will tell you day or night my office provides 24 hour support and we have spare systems should a bar customer need to use another system. |

If Taiwan is inside the GFW, then why non of the websites of Formosa can be accessed from here?? (www.taiwandc.org)
Do not underestimate technology and the ppl monitoring the GFW. |
