Yes if you use msittig in combination with dd.map you can plan buses from anywhere to ....anywhere. dd.map is Chinese though. |

^I use the bus all the time and see other white folk (if that's what you mean by foreigners)
Also, you can download an application on iTunes that gives you all the bus stops in English for each bus. Very useful app if you have an iPhone or iTouch. I think it was like $1.99 or $2.99 though. |

I take very often the 18 and 23
I use also the 715, the 96
The 18 is great to go to Baoshan Lu, and also to Luxun park
2 kwai to go from the end of Xizang nan Lu , near the ferry dock to cross to Pudong, and on the other side all the way to Luxun Park. But true, I have never seen a foreigner on any of the buses I take |

^Lucky I'm well below i guess.
Yea, I wouldn't say often, but I use the 911, 926, and 72 buses pretty frequently and probably see another foreigner every 4 or 5 trips. Once you know how to use them and if you have a reference like the one I mentioned, it is a great way to get around the city.
Thanks John for that tip when I got here by the way. They aren't nearly as intimidating or confusing as they may seem. |

Anyone who is not local here in this city is called foreigner,guess we all agree on that,hehe.
well,I dont like bus coz traffic in SH is really bad,eapecially rush hours,and taking bus is kind of wasting time,too slow you know.subway is better even though it is crowded. |

My 3 year old had a tantrum today because we didn't get on a bus. Crying and carrying on, "I want to go on the bu-u-u-u-us...." She is used to riding the bus quite a lot in London, but I haven't been here long enough yet to feel confident to use the local buses and know I will likely end up where I want to be (mainly because, since I am mostly going places for the first time, I won't know when to get off). But, maybe just for sh1ts and giggles we'll try hopping on one tomorrow and just go a couple stops, then try to find our way home. |

Great way to get to know the city is jump on ANY bus, ride it to the end then go back again. Cant get lost, and will only cost you RMB 4. Cool.

I still can't get over the way locals deal with the bus. I never use local buses, but there's a stop round the corner from my place. The bus arrives empty. Plenty of seats. As it approaches the stop all the people waiting rush for the closed doors. The bus continues a few yards to the actual bus stop and all the people rush back to the stop. It's like watching The Simpsons. One time there was a guy in a f*cking wheelchair trying to get on the bus. People shoving past him while he's stuck in front of the doors. Madness. I tried to help but the conductor waved her flag right in my face and told me to leave him alone. |
