Post subject: Broken digital alarm clock..anyone know where I can take it?

I understands its just a digital alarm clock but it was an expensive one and I really want to keep it working. Does not light up anymore when I plug it in. Does anyone know an electronics repair store I could take it to?

Thank you for any help

Burton, it's not worth the bother, unless it's a family heirloom. Just buy a new one. Is it set to the atomic time clock?

Yeah, honestly, if you look what's inside, there's hardly anyhting that can be reasonably repaired anymore. Better to get a new one mate

It's not about the function. Its a design I really like that i got in a boutique store from L.A and the moment i brought it here it stopped working.

http://www.designpublic.com/shop/jonas-damon/8664?GCID%3DC11679x033%26 utm_source%3DRSS%253A%252BNewProducts%26utm_medium%3DRSS%26utm_content %3DRSS%253A%252BNewProducts-date%26utm_campaign%3DWhats%252BNew&utm_te rm=Jonas+Damon+Numbers+Clock+Black+-+White+LE&CJPID=2124638

If it was just about the function i'd keep using my cell phone, i like the way it looks. If there was another place here that sold them I'd buy another one but I doubt thats an option.

I don't suppose you fried it due to the power difference... just a thought.

China's electrical system runs at 220-240V/50hz, as opposed to the US, which runs at 110-120V/50hz. Many imported appliances designed for 120V can operate here in China with an external transformer, but appliances with a timer or a clock may not operate properly.

If you're serious, go to Beijing lu to get it repaired. I can meet to show you around the market if you like. There's some shopping for work supplies I've been meaning to do...

They have nearly every electrical component imaginable available and many shops will repair or arrange for repair of some items. I've had many items made from battery packs, circuit boards (bread board and actual PCB), cables, connectors, adapters, power transformers..... If it's just a power issue, a shop may be able to Frankenstein in a 220VAC-110VAC step-down transformer since the clock's wattage is likely small. This could work unless it was power issue and something was fried when introduced to 220VAC.

If they can't fix it, one of my customers uses an electronics repair vendor that has repaired amplifiers, RF drivers, and the like for us. he may be able to help.
