Post subject: wedding invitations

Does anyone know where I can buy wedding invitations in Shanghai? I have been living here for a couple of years and I want to go back and get married but I thought it might be cheaper to get my wedding invitations in Shanghai- my fiance said we have to do 3,000 because of some printing thing and pay for all of them- but that just can't be true. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

It could also be fun to do your own invitations! We did ours for our wedding. I've seen some really good paper in Metro to make them!

It's quite doubtful that you'd *have* to print 3,000, it's just a matter of scaling costs. Certain printing processes have a high setup cost, so maybe the setup is 4000 RMB and then each copy costs about 1 RMB after that, or something along those lines.

If you ask for offset printing -- this is the method used to print most business cards -- the fixed cost is much lower, but quality is quite variable, so you have to know a good printer.

The final challenge is finding paper of the high quality usually used fro wedding invitations. You'll have to really push -- most printers never use paper of that quality and may not even know where to find it.

All in all, might be more trouble than it's worth, unless you enjoy this kind of challenge.

In plaza 66 or Citic Square i am not sure there is a small wedding shop selling all kinds of things related with wedding stuff, maybe you can go there and there is another very famous local wedding shop in Cao Xi Bei Lu No 45, Tel: 64289425 (next to Metro City in xujiahui), they must have the service you need but no English speaking service there i guess!

Hi,Sylpat,
i attended my friend's wedding party in May holiday. It is really boring to receive same invitation card. It is a good idea to buy some beautiful cards on which the couple sign the manes . I don't think they cost much.
