however, *imho*, as a president, he is turning usa into socialism, he is crippling the 3% of the population thats keeping the rest 97% afloat.
i just don't think its gonna work.
the bail-out, the cash for clunk, the new health bill, new taxes .... the future is depressing. |

I disagree. We are not turning our backs on the country. In America, I was always told that I'm Asian, or Asian-American. Asian comes before the word American, which implies the importance of the order. I'm first Asian, then American. Hence, many of us grew up thinking we are Asian.
And then we come to Asia, and whaddya know, nobody here thinks you are Asian! Because you speak English, dress different, and eat funny foods, you are American. The Chinese people don't think many Chinese-Americans have anything in common with them.. in fact, how often do you see ABCs preferring to hang out with Americans (of all ethnicities) rather than local Chinese?
Besides, at school in USA, do they not teach you nationalistic loyalty propaganda bullfeces? Almost all Asian-Americans sat through that, obviously honing a sense of patriotism in us.
Besides, Ziccawei, obviously these Chinese are happy to have left China for Aus/USA, for a better life. It's a cultural crisis and you are not helping! |

Last examples I heard was from an angry old conservative woman receiving medicare that she wants to keep govt out of healthcare and thats why oppose healthcare reform.
So please enlighten me.

i can go on all day, but i got things to do, so let me give this to you in a short sentence:
"spreading the wealth around" is precisely what obama's policies will seek to do, he said that on national TV time after time.
He campaigns on a pledge to reduce the taxes on 95% of all Americans, only those making more than $250k will be subject to having an increased percentage of their earnings confiscated by the government in the form of increased taxes, to be redistributed to those citizens that he believes merit the fruits of other people's labor.
that does not sound like socialism to you? |

Having a state run health care system does not make a country socialist. The UK's NHS for all it's critics actually works well. Seems that the term socialism is often thrown around as a scare tactic. |

I say it again (btw, I am by no means a socialist) "You mention socialism as if it was a bad thing".
I personally think the US could benefit a lot from a little socialism. I am not too sure on Obama's politics but from what you've said it definitely sounds like he is adopting some socialistic ideas. |

You mean by having tax rate for people making above $250K to level it was under Regan,Bush I and Clinton is your example of Obama turning america into socialism.
I just re-learn the history that the progressive tax system implemented by Obama turning america into socialism.

So he will totally turn the capitalistic US in to a socialist state in 4 years? That is a great achievement if he can succeed in doing that... 
As I said, I personally think that a little socialism is good. Sweden has basically been run by socialist democrats for the last 60 years, except for 4 years during the 90's and right now. |
