Yeah,
Actually I'm not that frightened of being rude - even if i do not share the concept that rudeness is an acceptable way of getting results. I'm not being judgemental, don't get me wrong, simply "courtesy" for me, being a part of my culture, cannot and must never be swap for interest, in my view.
I can understand how different systems of values can bargain it for something my own doesn't have.

I'm aware that I'm exaggerating in precision here, and this matter is really a drop inside the ocean of putonhua, but I have really enjoyed in getting some nice answer by our Chinese readers, whom I'd like to contribute a bit more to this forum - I'm sure they have unexpressed stories, wittyness to add to these threads - and they've proved it. Wink

You need not speak out the title of a lady, when you met a woman, just say hello or "Ni Hao" is ok.

this is a good thread to know
I just arrived in Shanghai after getting starved on the klm flight, the food was even worse tham Aeroflop in the 80,s.So anyway here i am in Shanghai after 30 hours o inforced detoxication.so i go to some recommended restarant for noodles,30 minutes i,m still waiting,so the only chinese i know is ni hao,no response,ni hao no response, now i cannae believe i did this,i put my hand in my mouth and whistled, still nae response. So i went up to the cashier with my receipt, and he stormed into the kitchen,5 minutes lateri stormed into the kitchen ,with 3 -4 waitresses trying to block my path, suddenly every body was speaking english ,,no no please sit down etc etc.IN my anger to get into the kitthen one of the waiters had delivered the noodles to the table.40 minutes to wait for a bowl o noodles in CHina!!!!,still listen to this,my first time in CHina.I went for a nice romantic dinner at some terumped up psuedo Japanese gaff, guess what!!NO RICE!! no rice in a sushi bar, unbelievable!!
