Date: 12-13 September 2009
Time: 8am – 5 pm
Venue: SRFC (near Zhouhai road metro station)

Event introduction:
As part of the IRB’s ongoing plan to develop rugby in China, September 12th – 13th will see Shanghai stage an intensely fast and furious Rugby Sevens tournament. The event will be sanctioned by the international Rugby Board (IRB), the China Rugby Football Union and the Asian Rugby Football Union and will see national teams from all over Asia including China, Japan, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei and Singapore. The event will be held at the Shanghai Rugby Football club with doors opening at 8:00am on both Saturday and Sunday.

This two day rugby festival is the first stop in the newly established IRB Asian Rugby Sevens Series. This international tournament will also be supported by a wide range of other matches including a 16 team international club sevens tournament along with women’s sevens, vets tens and kids’ exhibition matches.

Along with the action on the field, the weekend will be packed full of entertainment off the field. Families will appreciate the professionally supervised kid’s play area while the adults can enjoy themselves in the GUINNESS beer garden and watch live music on-stage. A wide selection of food and drinks will also be available as will your chance to pick up the official tournament jersey for this historic event!
