Post subject: China Consulate Closed, Stuck In Thailand

My friend is due to arrive in china on the 6th May, but the china embassy is closed in bangkok until the 10th May due to the holiday

Is there anything he can do???
(ie - can he get on his plane and get a visa at the airport???)
