I'm coming back to Shanghai in the first week of October, once I find my home, my first mission is to find some decent gear and get a board built.
I think I've found some decent stores, but I'm still not sure what I'm likely to be paying. I've been to Shanghai before, so I get the whole haggling thing, but I've not even been able to find a real ballpark figure.
So....I don't really like pre-built boards, but I guess I'd be willing to buy one if the price was right. Basically, I'm looking to pick out every part of the board, and get it built. Each part could differ hugely in price, but as a completely rough estimate, how much do you think this would cost?
I know this is a hard question to answer, but I'm only going to have a small amount of cash with me, and I need to know how much I'm going to have to spend on the board.
Thanks for any help.
Peace |

buy it in your home country as you can get better deals there. most of the stuff here is either fake, poor quality or very expensive. bring a new board here is the best option |

hey mate
try fly skate shop on changle lu fumin lu, best shop around. contrary to what lostatsea says boards here are good quality-as most of them are made in the same places as the bigger brands.but no-they are not as good as a usa made board...although the big brand boards are cheaper than australia. try a Gift deck, around 290rmb, some of the new Cart wheels for around, 150-200, trucks are trucks and vary from around 350 to 450 for the set.pick up some hardware for like 30 and bearings-go for some cheap mini logos-about 90kuai-cheaper and better for shanghai than the 'china' bones reds as they have shields on both sides-important for the dust. under a 1000rmb should do ya fine
hope this helps and maybe see u at the skatepark sometime when my knee recovers
jiu gui
oh yeah-if u are really budgetin avod the shitty decathlon completes-fly has mini logo completes-good boards but **** wood for 400rmb-new deck is all thats really needed |

Also try the shop in the Science and Tech basement. Sorry, my son is still asleep so can't give you the exact shop number. |

Had an extensive look around there, but damn that place is a labyrinth. If you could remember the number, that would be great.
Thanks. |

Went to check out Fly today, good gear but way overpriced. I got a set-up built for around 1200. Decent deck, average trucks, girl wheels and mini-logo bearings. Went to an ATM, on the way back to the store I passed a different skate shop.
Went in there, got a setup built for 714kuai. Creeper deck, autobahn wheels, independent trucks, mini-logo bearings. They built it there and then, and invited me to skate with them on the weekend. Friendly people that really know what they are talking about. |

I don't remember the name of the shop at S & T but it is easy to find. When you get off the subway, it is located between the tailor section and the pearl section, just about next to the velo machine. You can see the skates while you are still in the subway section, so don't enter the shopping area until you see the skate shop. |
