Burger Buzz
In a city that boasts hundreds of McDonald’s franchises, it might be hard for a newbie to find a decent burger. But here are four of the most popular (and delicious) burger deals around town. If you know of any others and want to chime in on the discussion, go to the following forum link: http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/phpbbforum/post1328753.html
Blue Frog Bar & Restaurant
Many locations (Click here )
Every Monday from 4pm until late, all burgers are “buy 1 get 1 free” in all seven Shanghai Blue Frog locations. These are meaty, thick, juice dripping gourmet burgers cooked to your perfection, normally 80¥ a piece, but on Mondays they're only 40¥ - a pure bargain, but which one??
The Montana - a hefty beef burger loaded with cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, two onion rings, topped off with salad and barbeque sauce
The Ruben - which comes with layers of Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, bacon, drizzled with Thousand Island dressing and finished off with classic burger salad bits
The Mushroom - a juice dripping burger loaded with sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese and fresh salad, served in a whole wheat bun. It’s a simple combination but it works, especially when you add in a smothering mix of mustard and tomato ketchup. I also love to add Tabasco to my ketchup for my fries, but that’s just me.
There are many other succulent variations available - a Spicy Chicken burger, a Chickpea Patty with a little spicy kick, roasted vegetables and hummus for the vegetarians among us, and The Zone, a bun-free version with a lettuce leaf substitute for the carb-conscious.
All burgers come with a pile of fries (or sweet potato fries) for 5¥ more and a petit salad. Between 4-8pm there is a “buy 1 get 1 free” everyday happy hour, on cocktails, beer, juices, wine, house pours.

This is another Monday deal which gets you a burger and a beer draft for 50¥. With an extensive burger menu of at least thirty choices, you'll seriously be stuck in deciding. With the option of thick beef burgers with extras such as crispy bacon, cheddar or Swiss cheese, ham, sweet pineapple, onion rings, runny eggs and many more, you'll have to close your eyes and just point. This is before including the choice of sauces - black pepper, barbeque, thousand island, honey mustard and more. My advice is to go with a friend and share two burgers between yourselves ensuring your taste buds some variety. If you are not feeling the beef vibe, there are also variations of the chicken burger with the same extensive combinations of extras and sauces to make your ideal burger. There's also a vegetarian chickpea patty accompanied with salad bits and sauces. All burgers come with coleslaw and the choice of chips, potato wedges or a green salad.
