Clinton Appeals For Sponsorship; USA Pavilion Seeks Talents
According to Xinhua report, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton paid a visit to 2010 Shanghai Expo site on November 16 (during Obama’s visit to Shanghai), when she addressed for the future of the USA pavilion and appealed for sponsorship for it.
"I know there are some audience still contemplating sponsorship and maybe in negotiation with the USA pavilion team," she said. "Now it's the time to join this effort. We want to assemble the strongest team of partners possible."
She extended her appreciation to sponsors including P&G, Honeywell, Intel and especially Boeing which agreed to double its contribution to US$2 million.
Although its sponsorship hasn’t seen the bright future so far, the USA pavilion, along with International Venue Group (IVG), the Pavilion's operator of the VIP, Food & Beverage, and Retail services has started to recruit over 200 staff to work at next year's World Expo in Shanghai. Everyone has the opportunity to be part of this unique experience.
Mark Germyn, Chief Operating Officer of the USA Pavilion said, "The Shanghai World Expo is expected to be the largest event in world history and an event of this magnitude truly requires a dynamic, focused and results driven team to make the USA Pavilion a magnificent attraction to all the 70 million visitors. Therefore, we are seeking to recruit highly motivated individuals to join our team in this exciting opportunity."
Full time vacancies for gift store and food & beverage service include management, operations and logistics, chefs and wait staff, functions, finance, and retail staff. Prospective applicants should have an understanding of the USA’s culture, history, geography and current affairs, along with being available to work full time in Shanghai from April to October 2010 and most positions require a reasonable standard of Chinese and English.
IVG is also interested in hearing from people who may like to undertake part-time work, internships or volunteer work at the USA Pavilion as there will be a number of opportunities tailored for individuals wanting to experience the excitement, scale and prestige of World Expo 2010.
