The Expat Youth Scholarship
Wondering how to cover those international school fees? Or does your daughter need a new laptop? If so, consider nudging your kids in the direction of the Expat Youth Scholarship.
The competition is open to teenagers of any nationality who have been living outside their home country for two consecutive years or more. They can enter by filming a short video, explaining their favourite thing about the new culture they live in (for past winners check the website).

There are two categories: one for 12-15 year olds and another for 16-18 year olds. Winners in both categories are eligible for the following prizes (presumably in US dollars):
First place: $3000
Second place: $1500
Third place: $500
There are no restrictions on how the money may be used, which should make this an attractive competition.

A Judges’ Panel will narrow down the field to 12 entries and these videos will then be posted on the scholarship’s Facebook page. The winners in each category will be the ones with the most ‘likes’.
The scholarship is funded by Clements International, an insurance provider for expats.
Entries must be submitted by Friday, May 13 2011.
