When you walk on the street, you’ll be overwhelmed by the Christmas ambience in every nook and cranny: golden, silvery, red, white, green, blue, all painted around the town. Shopping is one of the inevitable pastime activities for city dwellers. These days, major shopping malls have launched various promotions and events for the upcoming holiday season. Their shining decorations for Christmas are the big highlights for them and for the whole town as well.
Grand Gateway Mall is a stylish “must-go” destination for Shanghai shoppers. A glittering Swarovski Christmas tree has been set up in the center's atrium. Standing at 16 meters, the giant gold tree features more than 500,000 cut crystals with an estimated value of over 1 million yuan (US$146,400). The tree will be lit up three times a day, at 12:30pm, 3:30pm and 7:30pm, until January 3. There will also be special lighting effects projected on the tree and performance of Christmas melodies. On December 24 and 25, there will be live musical performances outdoor, while a Santa Claus will walk around the mall to give Christmas candies to customers. (by ShanghaiDaily)
Standing at 16 metres, the giant Christmas tree lighted up with the music in Xintiandi. Themed as United in Joy, Xintiandi will host a series of events in between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
