Miss U.S.A. visits Shanghai United Family Hospital, promotes breast health
Miss U.S.A., Rema Fikah visited Shanghai United Family Hospital (SHU) to educate the Shanghai community about early screening and detection of breast cancer. The recent winner of the Miss U.S.A. title is passionate about promoting breast cancer awareness internationally and was pleased to learn of the hospital’s international standard facilities in the area of breast health for Shanghai residents.
While at the hospital, Miss U.S.A. was taken on a tour of the hospital’s international standard facilities. The tour culminated in a meeting with Dr. James Chen, Chair of Radiology, Dr. Song Keying, and Dr. Maite Calderon Lopez, SHU Oncology Program Coordinator, who took Miss Fikah through the chain of screening, diagnosis, and treatment options for breast cancer patients at SHU.
“Breast cancer in China has become increasingly common in recent years, especially in metropolitan cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Guangzhou,” explains Dr. Song Keying, General Surgeon at SHU. “This change is attributed to rapid urbanization, lifestyle changes, and an increase in early detection methods. Educating women about the importance of clinical check-ups and screening is crucial ”
“The most important thing is that expatriates don’t have to worry about heading back to their own country for screening and treatment and that Chinese nationals also have access to the latest global capabilities,” adds Dr. Song. “Shanghai United Family Hospital offers a combination of regular screening, early detection, and advanced treatment which together allow for the best clinical outcomes for patients right here in Shanghai.”
