United Family Healthcare Signs Intent to Manage International Division of Shanghai’s Huashan Hospital Pudong

SHANGHAI, CHINA, April 2, 2010 -- United Family Healthcare (UFH), has

recently signed a Letter of Intent with Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, and Fosun Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (Fosun Pharma) agreeing that UFH will manage the International Division of the Huashan Hospital Pudong. The official signing took place at a Ceremony at Huashan Hospital’s new Pudong facility, Shanghai International Hospital.

The agreement increases UFH’s already strong presence in Shanghai, allowing it to better serve the growing Chinese and international demand for better healthcare services in this leading global city that will host the world at the Shanghai 2010 Expo. The UFH network’s main facility, Shanghai United Family Hospital (SHU), is currently located in the city’s Changning District. Opened in 2004, SHU is a purpose built, full service, JCI internationally accredited hospital that offers both inpatient and outpatient care, state-of-the-art operating theatres, and also boasts a 24-hour emergency room. The main hospital is supported by a satellite clinic located at the Shanghai Racquet Club in Shanghai’s Minhang District. The addition of the International Department at Huashan Hospital Pudong to the UFH network further expands UFH’s facilities, size, capabilities, and service scope in Shanghai, giving the network its first presence in the fast growing Pudong area.

Conveniently located in the Pudong Jin Qiao Area at No. 525 Hong Feng Road, the UFH managed International Department at Huashan Hospital Pudong will offer comprehensive international standard healthcare to the Chinese and expatriate community in Pudong. Outpatient services are scheduled to include family medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, and urgent care. Further expansion of these services is planned in the future with an aim to provide a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, as well as emergency care. UFH hopes to begin service at this facility later this spring.

As with all facilities in the UFH network, the International Department at Huashan Hospital Pudong will offer highly qualified medical staff from China and around the world, direct billing to numerous global insurance providers, and will strictly adhere to Joint Commission International accreditation standards.
