For many newcomers to Shanghai, the subway is the most accessible form of transport. Shanghai’s metro system is labelled in English and Chinese, and prices range from 3 RMB for most journeys to 10 RMB for cross-city endeavours. You can use Explore Shanghai Metro to calculate journey times and costs. Click on a station and 'First and last' to see the first and last trains that run at that station. If you're travelling after about 10 pm, it's a good idea to check that the trains will still be running.
