800 Million Yuan Worth Of Counterfeit Cosmetics Seized In Zhejiang
Over 1,200 boxes containing 800 million yuan worth of counterfeit cosmetics were seized by police in Taizhou, Zhejiang province yesterday. Fifteen people have been arrested so far in conjunction with making and selling the dodgy cosmetic products.
The ring reportedly ripped off a range of different high-end brands, including Chanel, Christian Dior, Lancome and Estee Lauder, and sold them for criminally cheap prices -- which aroused suspicion that they might not be the real deal.
One of the manufacturers responsible for some of the fake goods in Pingdingshan, Henan province, confessed that he would buy the raw materials online and mix them to make similar products. He'd then purchase the fake packaging in Guangdong, slap them with the real QR codes from the original products, and sell them at online at 10 times the manufacturing cost. Police pledge that they'll destroy all of the counterfeit cosmetics.
