Japan in the 80s

I remember as a kid seeing pictures of the Tokyo subway and the platform attendants whose job was to stuff commuters into the trains as the doors closed. Little did I know that one day I would live in a city where the trains are as, if not more, crowded. Here are pics from Metrofans BBS user Nenjiang Road M8 of the People's Square Line 2 platform at rush hour:

Subway maps like you've never seen before

OK, so I had to resurrect this somewhat dormant blog to share this latest discovery. User jiadream on the Metrofans forum is creating a series of subway route maps like, in his own words, "you've never seen before".

For Line 1, the firstborn of the Shanghai Metro:

For Line 2, the second line, he even added the connecting lines:

And following on the nickname of Line 2's trains, 青鱼/herring, literally "green fish":
