TIP - Lots of people with blogs have lists of link in the sidebars of other bloggers who link to them. This is a good way of getting traffic and sharing your idea and building an online community. We do this here through a link blog. A link blog is an additional blog that you can post JUST the links to other sites and it will show in your blog ( depending on the skin you use)

We have not setup link blogs for everyone and limited access to the main site linkblog. If you want one, let us know we will set on up for you, or if you want - we can setup access to the site linkblog. These have to be requsted.

There are few of us in the community who have taken the challenge but who are noobs at this blogging thing. Maybe its not for everyone, but it pretty is what you make it. If you have ideas and say something. It will grow. If not, whatever you fill your time with must be something good for you.

But in the interest of giving a few of us an idea or two about what to do with blank screen and small patch of internet real estate... occasionally here I will point you to other blogs for a look and see.

First you may wonder what all this trackbacks and pings and blog rolls are all about. You can google it. try "blog glossary". I will try to compile a few of the terms here on night. One such glossary.

Another thing to do is visit the blogs that might be interesting. Take a look at the China Blog List. Here are some good recommendations to start checking out.

Finally you can check out ones you know about. Two of my favorites are WangJianShuo's Blog and Shanghaiist.
Here is one.. Both have good writing, are updated almost daily, and are about Shanghai.. which I think is interesting.

Anyway. more on this later. Its a start.

This is the first installment of Shanghai expat Community Web Log. Shanghai Expat stared out as a blog of sources before the term blog became popular. I called it a travelog. As the web log phenomena grew and Shanghai Expat left if blog roots to move toward a portal style site, I begin the notice that there was an area we weren't participating in. Hence the weblog on Shanghaiexpat.
