Line 2 near Yuandong Dadao, on the new PVG Airport eastern extension:
I remember as a kid seeing pictures of the Tokyo subway and the platform attendants whose job was to stuff commuters into the trains as the doors closed. Little did I know that one day I would live in a city where the trains are as, if not more, crowded. Here are pics from Metrofans BBS user Nenjiang Road M8 of the People's Square Line 2 platform at rush hour:
Pretty scary.
OK, so I had to resurrect this somewhat dormant blog to share this latest discovery. User jiadream on the Metrofans forum is creating a series of subway route maps like, in his own words, "you've never seen before".
For Line 1, the firstborn of the Shanghai Metro:
For Line 2, the second line, he even added the connecting lines:
And following on the nickname of Line 2's trains, 青鱼/herring, literally "green fish":

Ever notice the golden columns on the Jing'an Temple subway station platform? As the number of Shanghai subway stations shot up over the past few years, station engineers strived to include unique features in each station's (re-)design. Next time you pass through the station, take a second to appreciate Jing'an Temple's unique, gold-colored columns and temple-themed exits.
If you had to redesign China's classic pink train ticket, what would you add? What would you take off? Here is blogger Chris H's take:
Interesting!
