Hi! I have three kids and have a number of used clothes in good condition. If any one doesn't mind about second hand clothes, please check the following link.

Hi,

I am also wondering if someone knows where we can put our old things, but still in good working condition, into good use. In Singapore, I use to leave it in the salvation army box. But I wonder if there is something similar in Shanghai.

The British Consulate and British Chamber of Commerce organise twice yearly collections of adult and kids second hand clothing as well as children's toys. They are shipped free of charge by one of the relocation agencies to Xining University in Qinghai Province. The t¡betan students there distributre the items to remote villages with the kind of poverty that is hard to believe exists when you live in Shanghai.
The students do this as part of their studies in sustainable development under the guidance of a long term Canadian prodessor. They also manage fundraising for other small scale poverty alleviation projects. The students provide detailed reports in English (down to the last sock) on who received what - including photographs. These are usually available to view at the main collection points in Shanghai.
Collection points include Worldlink, some of the International Schools and the Equitorial Hotel. Collections are made over a week or so and last year several major companies held in-house collections. Please contact the Sasha Timmermans at the British Consulate or Rebecca Hickman at the Chamber of Commerce for details of when their next collection will be. Sometime in the early summer is usual.

You may also contact the APM (A Pleines Mains) association, they have different collection points for 2nd hand kids clothes around Shanghai. It's a charity running different projects in China.
