Post subject: Royal & Sun Alliance Heath Insurance?
Hi -

Anyone here have health coverage from Royal & Sun Alliance?

If you do, could you tell me your experience with them here in China and abroad, please?

On that note, does anyone have any experience with Health Line Asia - an insurance brokerage?

Any information would be helpful & appreciated - Thank you.

We use both of them, R&SA through Healthline Asia, have been for a few years, Generally it is good. R&SA has direct billing with several clinics/hospitals, including Worldlink, so you just show the card and it will be taken care of. For other Hospitals/Clinics like Shanghai United, thery don't have the full diorect billing, however, if you call Healthline Asia up to one hour before your appointment, they will fax over a guarantee letter to United, and then it will be handled through your card. otherwise, you simply fill in the claim form and a few weeks later the amount will be transferred to your account. The people at Helathline are very helpful in all of this. I can recommend it!

I also use both. Up until Friday I had only utilised the direct billing which meant no interaction with RS&A or Health Line Asia. I have just today sent my claim forms to RS&A so will see how that goes. They did pre-warn me though that the claim can take up to 6 weeks as it goes through the UK. They were very helpful in sending me the forms and because I am still awaiting my new membership card, that they would look after those details for me.

Health Line Asia however advised that Shanghai United is NOT on the direct billing list and that I couldn't get pre-authorisation =( I checked with Shanghai United and they confirmed this. May depend on your type of insurance with Health Line Asia and RS&A though??

I have found the prices for HLA to also be very competitive, even with William Russell who I would suggest as another great alternative. They (WR) are just introducing direct billing and will also settle claims within FIVE working days!

Good luck!

Thank you both for your feedback.

I am also seriously considering Allianz, but the agent made a mistake and divulged misconstrued personal information to the underwriters who have added an exclusion and also want to charge me an extra $900 USD because my BMI (body mass index) is one point higher than it should be.. if I lost 2 kg, the price would drop $900. However, the agent is saying that too bad, have to wait one year because at the time of application, I was too fat Neutral
