Hi, does anyone know if you qualify for a work permit if you do no have a degree? What are the requirements for applying for a work permit in SH? Thanks

a work permit (as opposed to a Z visa) is granted based on the company, the company needs to meet certain qualifications first, not sure how much the individual's qualifications matter.

OP is probably seeking employment as an English teacher.
The Chinese authorities will attempt to ensure that you are really skilled in the field you seek work in. In larger companies, they will take the employer's word (or that of your resume) that you are, say, an expert in production line maintenance. For managerial posts, they will also generally accept your company's decision to place you in that post as proof of your ability, but in those positions which, by their very nature, require a university education such as, for example, finance or accounting.
Teaching requires a degree. Although we all know teaching English is not rocket science, the profession itself has tried to boost it's tarnished image by stressing education -- often shady education at that. Next you know, we'll have professional burger flippers and degrees in Bovine Flipology.
