In the Philippines, HBO Asia has signed a new carriage deal with newly launched direct-to-home (DTH) pay TV operator, Cignal DTV. Owned by Mediascape, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mediaquest Holdings, Inc. (a subsidiary of the PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund), Cignal DTV has been offering HBO to its subscribers since 1 April 2009 and will be launching more HBO Asia channels soon. Subscribers of Sky Cable currently enjoy all five of HBO Asia’s multiplex channels

So HBO CINEMAX are now carried on another provider and not Dream TV.

So for all those being advised by Chinese agents that HBO is returning to Dream TV by the end of the month please take note.

Are the other 2 satellite providers listed on your website only obtainable with huge dishes?

DSTV looked interesting but 2.4m?! Jeez!
How about the other one?

Does not having a balcony mean a large dish is out?

Unless you have a large rooftop and are allowed long cable runs yes DSTV ad Thai are out for most people.

Yes Thai also requires a 2.4m or 3m dish.

Thats why people use my MPEG4 streaming... No dishes required and costs are far cheaper.

Iara was quoted from a Shanghai company 13,000rmb for the 2.4m DSTV Dish and 12 months card and RMB12000 for the Thai dish and 12 months card. rmb25K for both.

Quite expensive compared to my IPTV service that costs far less. If paid in advance the average cost is US$100pm plus the hardware costs of the satellite receiver and HAVA MPEG4 streaming unit.

Actually it's US$1430 for Australia Network and DSTV and THAI on my IPTV service paid up front for 12 months. It averages out on streaming costs to about rmb680 a month and US$240 for the hardware.

You might say not cheap but very reasonable on pricing for the 125 TV channels and the 70 satellite radio channels on our package.

It's not crazy expensive but as you say... not cheap either since it relies on "good" internet connectivity and a pc/laptop dedicated to streaming IPTV to my TV.

The main point is that I'd prefer to have a dish based solution.
Not keen on clogging up the bandwidth with IPTV or having to reserve bandwidth for that. Sigh...

So the Dream package you're providing off the dish is the Dream Star(650) package? I could do without HBO honestly since this is China but I want the news channels and more importantly - the education ones like NatGeo, Animal Planet, Discovery etc. I read that Animal Planet disappeared then got restored... are these channels at a risk of disappearing any time soon?

i was quoted a price of RMB 8,000 for a 2.4M dish. Finally installed it for RMB 2400.00. This included the money paid to a few guys in the management office to allow us to install this dish on the roof top.

This is China, everything needs to be negotiated.

Does that include the 12 month guarantee you were offering on pirate Dream cards just only in April 2009?

Of course everything is negotiable. But many now are not willing to risk paying for pirate systems anymore.

Animal Planet never left, neither did Australia Network.

Dream TV is operating under bankruptcy protection. There are no guarantees for any channels. Dream could change channels at any time. Dream has changed channels regularly in the last several years. More than any other content provider in Asia.

You will get mostly what you want on Dream, except sports. So maybe that is your best option.

DSTV and Truevisions have very stable apckages but they have both changed channels in the last 12 months. DSTV adding Disney and Movie Stars and Thai replacing BBC Entertainment, Soundtrack Ch, and Animax with ALL Sports Network, AXN Beyond, and Nickeldean 01 June 2009.

Many Brits in Thailand are complaining about the loss of the BBC Entertainment channel. These things happen. HK satellite lost rights to the Premier League football 2 years ago. All broadcasters change channels.

SatelliteTV, I'm negotiating to move to a new apartment. If I wanted to ask landlord to install a satellite system better than Dream, which dropped most of my favorite channels recently, what should I ask for? I want a dish based system that doesn't affect my internet connectivity, which is already slow as is.

The internet is not as slow as you would think for dedicated streaming which my systems are. Most of what you want is not on Dream and also not on many other satellites either.

Why dont you email me a list of what you deem necessary, then I can let you know what your options are that are not streaming. IF you want to try other pirated systems there are still some out there. Just dont go for priated HK as they are changing encryption as well.

I dont do the HK satellite as it does not have the content my customers want. No star world, no EPL, No Australia Network, and only about 12 English channels and costs for a genuine system run to about 6000rmb in Shanghai.

I'm sure no wants to be ripped off too. By paying RMB 2,400 for a dish and another $175/ YEAR for a genuine subscription fee i'm getting more than 300 channels. Much more than i actually need.

Why dont you tell people which package gives you 300 channels for US$175 per year with a genuine subscriber card. There is no single provider with that many channels in Asia for a start.

I am sure we would all like to know.

How are your sales of the 1 year pirated Dream TV cards going with the 1 year warranty you were offering in February March April of this year?

my dream card still runs fine which i bought 2 years back for 80 rmb. so i stand corrected, the validity of the card will be 2 years and not 1 year Very Happy

as such Dream TV is not worth even this price and hence made some small investments and happy with the result.

As far as you Mr Con, all the best to you and the rip off pricing of yours. there are plenty of expats out there who will fall for your gimmicks, god save them.

Can you tell me what channels you have on your Dream card?? I'm only asking as I have both the 'new' box from 'Mr con' and an older box from Mr.Pirate. I still have all the channels advertised on the dream tv website on the 'new' box and about 5 channels left on the 'Mr Pirate' box!

Also, would love to know where you got 300 channels for just 175usd a year from!!?? Please tell - I want!

Nice name for me no doubt. But I never sold pirated Dream TV systems in China.

So what you are telling everybody is that your Pirate card still has ALL the channels on Dream TV including Australia Network.

So yes please tell us about these services you claim to get on your dish. 300 channels and all. Of course there are hundreds on non English free to air channels avialable. I get about 100 Chinese channels on Chinasat6B plus many other channels on Asiasat 2 Asiasat 3 Asiasat4.

So please show everybody a link to the provider which offers you these 300 channels with a legitimate pay card.

Expats you think are stupid. But many have lived in Thailand or other countries where DSTV and Truevisions can be viewed. You certainly cannot get either of these packages for US$175 per year. Just look at those companies websites and you can see what the package costs are.

I am sure everybody here will believe that

Sorry my error this package only available for cable TV providers not residential users. It's for commerical use.

For the record I'm a happy customer of 'Mr con', and have never sold a sat system in my life... as you say, i'm from the stone age!

Honestly want to know where you get 300 channels from, as a sat customer I would like to know?!! Maybe I can buy off you instead of Mr Con? After all, if he is ripping me off please tell me how to have the systems cheaper...

Seeing as you just posted links to pirate keys for satellite I assume you are a pirate installer though??

Well Monkey and I are not the same person not that it matters much. This so called waiting for the switch over what a load of bollocks. Hackers have been trying to get into Dream TV's Nagra3 for over 15 months now. The complete switch on of Nagra3 happened last February 2008.

So what has changed between then and now... nothing. Everyweek people are claiming they will release Nagra3 keys for Dream TV.

Still it doesnt help all those people you suckered out of money with your 12 month guarantee on Dream TV pirate cards does it now?

Iara as you know many epxat run businesses in China closed doors and packed up and left in the last 12 months. GM from the USA is bankrupt and their suppliers have not been paid. Enron and other large US companies like Lehmens Brothers with 100 plus years of history have gone bankrupt.

Any private company can cease business and close doors. It happens all the time. Many satellite broadcasters in Asia have gone bankrupt and ceased broadcasting in the last 15 years.

Probably. This is the reason why I'm still hesitating on signing up for Dream. Thought the CBsat package would do it then he tells me it's not for residential use lol. Damnit!
