Post subject: For Those With Teen Boys

Might sound silly, but what are the hot clothes for teen boys over there?
Around here American Eagle, Hollister and Polo are popular.
Whatever your answer, is it cheaper there than in the states?

Considering they are probably made here - yes.
Also copies of any name brand are available.

If your young men are large you'll have a tougher time finding clothes that fit.

Bring lots of clothes with you from the US. It's a big hassle here to find the right price, right style. My 14-yr old son had a growth spurt, now he's skinny and tall. Can't find anything "cool." "Cool" is about the same here as in the US. Still trying to find shorts like Quicksilver. We miss "Tilly's." Of course if someone is reading this, and has a suggestion for a good place to buy clothes for teenagers, bigger than kids, but still considerably smaller and a lot skinnier than men sizes (even Chinese men), that would be great.

When I do find the right shorts, they're always more expensive than at home because they are not for the national market..

Thank goodness for school uniform. Those, yes, are easily made at fabric markets, etc., regardless of size.

Mo2b, you might want to join the ShanghaiMamas yahoo group

You can ask any and all questions you might have about raising your kids in Shanghai; the women there are a treasure trove of information.

The only clothing items my teen aged son purchased while we lived in Shanghai were knock off sports jerseys, Abercrombie shorts and a tailored suit. Oh - and lots of school tshirts and sweatshirts - cheap to make here so every team and every event has a shirt.
We would stock up on jeans and other basics in the US every summer. One year he grew too tall for his jeans but someone had a trip back and got him a few pair.
The good news is that the ayi would have the dirty clothes clean and back in the closet the next day - you can get by with a lot less!

I'm in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah with my teen son, and he is absolutely overwhelmed with the selection of 'cool' clothes here.

But then he lives in shorts and T shirts and soccer/futsal outfits. Very Happy

Klick.. should not be problem.. not sure exactly why it did not show your posts. I edited it a bit and took out any characters that might have been picked up as special characters by the software and it looks like it shows fine now.
