| Post subject: Bamboo bird cage |
Earlier today we bought some small finch sized birds - apparently they're indigenous Chinese song birds.
The cage they came in is only just adequate for the short term, but definitely not for too long.
I remember seeing larger bamboo bird cages previously (not the take-the-bird-for-a walk type), but have no idea where we could get one. They don't have them at the Dongfang Rd Bird and Flower market, and none of the vendors there were willing/able to suggest where we could get one.
Does anyone have an idea where we could find one? Pudong would be great, but suggestions in the downtown area will also be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I remember seeing some a few years ago at a market on Renmin Lu (near the Yuyuan market on Henan Zhong Lu). The place has lots of critters, including insects. |

Or you can try the bird and fish market on Xizang Lu, next door to the Magnificent Hotel |

Thanks kindly for the two suggestions. Will try soon as they really don't have a good space at the moment. |

Try Dongtai lu, the "antique" street market.
Also, just on front, I think its t¡bet lu, its a bird/cricket/some flowers market. I bought a nice birdcage there, a big one, around 70¥ months ago. It's just for decoration, but they have many styles there.
Wait, I think it's the same market bbc74 was talking about, right? |

I would suggest duck taping them to the wall. They won't be able to move at all while you can still feed them and enjoy their company. You could even pretend to be their mother and feed them from your mouth like all birds do. |

I believe the pet market near the antique street was knocked down.
I saw some large bird cages at Hongqiao Bird and Flower market two weeks ago (718 Hongjing Lu) |

I drove past it yesterday and it looked ok, they've all just been moved into these new brick shops. |
