HI,
Relocating to Shanghai soon, I am uk citizen, marrying Taiwan National in August, can she travel to shanghai with me, any problems, what visa does she need, can she residence permit, can she work?

Like you'll marry her before coming to Shanghai or after, because that makes a difference in visa application.
- On Tourist visa would be no trouble and to my belief if she wants to stay with you she can apply a D-status which is for marriage or spouse as well.
She can have resident permit, work permit only on business visa or Z visa, but she can always do work without contract and get paid in cash, but has some risks.
You two will not face many hard things, so no need to worry too much,
