| Post subject: Green Card ?? |
Just read an article in today's Shanghai Daily (english) that China is now issuing Green Cards to foreigners. 10 years for qualified adults, can leave and return to China as many times as you like. But the article says few will qualify -- must be 'high-level' executive or invest gobs of money in China. Any advice on how to get one? |

Well firstly you must be 'high-level' executive or invest gobs of money in China. 
I don't know if you are married to chinese you will be eligible for one :I |

Why do we want one?
I can't see China not granting us visas and we all pay top taxes. |

Actually, it's become a pain in the arse for Americans to get visas here. Besides, not having to worry about updating it for 10 years, multiple entry, that's great! |

I am not judging anything. Butthe situation for Americans might be a reply for getting visas in the US which has become a pain in the arse as well. Anyway, the Green card idea is a cool thing! |

yeah, you can get China' green card' through marriage. but not worth anyway...
Anyway, getting one is not bad because it saves a lot time to getting visas and paying fees... |

There's no doubt the situation for Americans getting visas here is a pain because of America's own policy -- the Chinese gov. has been clear and open about that -- and even as an American trying to get a visa here -- I applaud the Chinese gov for being this way. I just want a loophole on a green card for myself. I didn't vote for him, either. |

Any Idea how to actually get one? I'm just a lowly teacher who is married to a Chinese national. I plan on staying in China indefinetly and having to worry about Visa issues is pissing me off. |

yea what is the law with a male married to a chinese national,
you would think it be possible to live here, and get a green card, i have been married more than 8 years here, lived most of my time here, and have two children, but best i cant get is a 3 months holiday visa to live with my famaily
so much for chinese thinking that famaily is the most important, its money
my country give my wife and children free visa, because we are married,and she could live and work there freely if we wanted,
but i have to get new visa every 3 months and pay for it, good way to make money, and on top of that i have been fined for not signing at local police station, when i never herd about that law, I should have been told when getting my visa
But i do love china, and its worth putting up with this ****, hopefully in a few more year it become easyer |

Why ask the question here, just call WuSong Rd Visa office. They may be surly and offer poor service but at least they know the answers.
That's what I did and the response for getting the 10 year residence permit (green card) for being married to a local was: 5 years married and 5 years in China. If you can show this then you get it... or at least go the the next stage.

to be married 5 years is fair, or even longer
but to have to stay in china 5 years, is not
most of us have to travel in and out of china all the time, to make a living |

I would hope it could be easier than this. Ok, lived here 3years, married 8 months, 1st baby due in November. The same article in "S. Daily" indicated that the last instance of Marriage would make this "green card" available. Who knows? If anyone figures this out............ |

I see there is a special group of people who qualify: fluent speakers of Mandarin, who live here and love this country as their own. Other nations could easily refer to these people as 'Sell-Outs'.
It's going to be called the Da Shan Exemption Clause. |

so been there and asked, u have to be married 5 years, and lived in china
married for 5 years, must have spent at least 9 months every year over that time,
And u must apply from which city your spouse is from
I done all but i only spend 8 months every year, so no green card |
