Has anybody recently gotten a 1 year multi entry F visa in HK?? I just got a message from an agent in HK saying that she could now only get 6 month F.
I don't know if this is an across the board change or just at her agency. |

I called the agency in the chinavisa.com link above today and they told me again that, for US citizens, they can only get a 6 month multi-entry visa AND that with this visa each entry is limited to 30 days, so you must leave China every 30 days.
This is the same information I got from two other agents about a month ago. |

Just got a 1 year multi entry business (F) visa from Hong Kong on 26 July, 2004 at Japan Travel Ltd.
Cost me HK$950 for same day. Would have been HK$750 for next day.
The lady warned me that I could be rejected since I only had two entry-exit stamps...not three....but she also said that it was only because different places had different policies. I got mine the same day anyway.
She reckoned I would definitely get the one year visa regardless of having three entry-exit stamps if I did the next day or 1 1/2 day service...not sure why this is. The important thing is that it seems you can't be rejected...so good luck with your trip to HK!
I took advantage of cheap flights to Zhuhai too...about 800rmb each way...not sure how long this will last. Take a 20rmb bus from the airport to downtown Zhuhai by the Macau border, then either find the way to Zhuhai seaport or cross the border into Macau and find the boat terminal there. Be careful to get a morning flight to Zhuhai so you can make it to HK the same day...there are no cheap places to stay in Zhuhai...only 200rmb approx. One way ticket by boat (1 hr) to HK or back costs around 160rmb.
1700rmb airfares + airport taxes of 50rmb each way
300rmb boatfares from Zhuhai and back
800rmb-1000rmb 1 yr visa
110rmb HK accomodation (Chungking or Mirador Mansions on Nathan Rd, near Japan
Travel Agency)
Total: 2900rmb (minimum)
**plus allow a few hundred rmb for shopping and misc. expenses. |

If this Magic guy that has been talked about, who does the one-year F visas without you having to leave Shanghai, made his price 3000rmb instead of 4000rmb, I reckon he would soak up the entire market for HK visas....something to think about Mr Magic =) |

Shanghaimmo -
Are you a U.S. citizen? I was told again this week by agent in HK that U.S. citizens could still only get 6 mo multi entry with 30 day limit on each stay.
Also, what kind of room do you get in HK for 110 rmb/nt?
thanks |

None of these seems like they have the answer for Americans who wish to live there full time and not leave every 30 days. It's easy to get up to one year mutiple entry on a tourist (L) visa, but the catch is: only 30 days each stay! Who wants to take an expensive trip to Hong Kong every 30 days???
Anybody have a suggestion for how I could avoid the 30 day duration thing? I don't plan on doing any immediate work, though I might start a business. he thing is, I plan to take my time and doubt I will have business contacts right away. I just wanna live there a whle. What's the best way to get my long-term visa set up? |

I am a US citizen. I have heard about the problems with Americans having trouble getting the F visas...politics....I don't think it has changed. Some guy called Magic in Shanghai says he can get the 30 day limit removed....hopefully that means for US citizens too.
Here's info on the Magic guy:
Meshing Consultancy Services Co. Ltd. can help you to handle your visa just in Shanghai without going to Hong Kong. For Private Foreigners, we offer the following services: 1. Change Tourist (L) Visa to Business (F) Visa 2. Extend Tourist (L) Visa 3. Extend Business (F) Visa 4. Add Entrance in your Visa, etc. For Foreign Company, we can also help your employee to get: 1. Health Certificate 2. Representation Certificate 3. Working VISA 4. Residence Permit, etc. Address: Room 3B, 4th floor, Yinli Building, 485 Henan (North) Road, Shanghai 200071,China. Tel: 021-33011478 (You can inquire in English) Mobile: 13501828752 (24Hours) Website:http://www.meshingchina.com E-mail:Info@meshingchina.com
$100HK can get you your own tiny little room with shower, toilet and air-con. They may ask for HK$180 but insist that you really only want to spend $100-$120. Sometimes it is cheaper than this. There is also dormitory accomodation in Mirador Mansions on Nathan Rd for HK$60 per night. Mirador Mansions and Chungking Mansions...they are the cheapest places....and they are central. |

Japan Travel Ltd., Canarvon Rd. Get a map. They are on the internet, but I can't find them right now. It is in a plaza...about 10-15 mins walk from Mirador or Chungking Mansions. Checkout the phonebook in HK perhaps and call them for the exact address.
There are others in the area....I got handed a leaflet for an agent offering all the kinds of visas when I got off the bus outside Mirador Mansions. |

Just tried to check out meschingchina.com but it seems to be a website for ordering anti-depressants! Anyone know what the problem is?
Also what's the deal with UK citizens getting an F visa? Do we have the same problems as Americans with having to exit every 30days?
Is there a way I can get a 6 month or one year multiple entry visa from Shanghai?
Also is there anyway to leave the country for a holiday on a z visa - it doesn't run out until January?
thanks |

Japan Travel Agency
Rm 507-513, 5th Floor, East Ocean Center, 98 Granville Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon.
(852) 2369 8908/2368 9151
Email: mori@jta.biz (maybe this doesn't work)
Open: Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, Sat 8:45am-12pm
(It is NOT on Carnarvon Rd as I incorrectly stated)
Hmm....the meshingchina website does only have stuff about drugs, weird. Just try calling him and asking him your various questions. You can get a permit to leave the country on a Z visa and then re-enter....ask Magic. |

I've just got my "1-Year Multiple-Entry F-Visa" 4 days ago in Hongkong (as I do on a once-a-year, no-sweat basis.......but as long as there's a full-time job available, then your contractor will do it here in Shanghai). And hey, thanks to the guest house where I usually stay at the Mirador Mansions, last year I only paid: HK$ 1300 (cause I asked them for a discount, cause of me being broke). But this year, some days ago when I was in Hongkong, I've just paid HK$ 1500 for the next day, only! (And all of that is if you take into account that according to the Visa Office at the HumHong (HK) Train Station told me that the rate for a next-day visa for a country like mine is at least: HK$ 2400!).
But hey SINSABIT,

without having to "bargain off" the price like I did last year?? Could you tell me whether that's the usual rate for your country or just the agency's price?? |

Lidalong, are you an American by any chance? I think we're paying the price for George Bush and his idiotic policies. Which travel agent did you go to, and could they get around the 30 day limit? |

Wat about other foreigners? Like maybe Indonesians? Will these agencies help?
Do you need a visa to even get into HK? |

I just got this 0-entry F-visa from Magic. Everything works out fine. I will use his services again next time. His website is www.visainchina.com. There, all the prices are quoted and they are accurate. Free pick-up and delivery of your passport and payment upon receipt of your passport.
Save yourself the trouble to go to HK. This is so much easier and cheaper. |
