| Post subject: Advice on Shanghai |
Hello all, thanks in advance for any tips/insights.
I'm planning on going to Shanghai in March/April to look into some business opportunities. I expect to be in Shanghai for 3 months, possibly permanently.
I'd like to get your opinion on:
- Best neighborhood (reasonable access to restaurants, some nightlife, public transport, somewhat close to business centers)
- How easy it is to find a short term (3 months) furnished apartment and some rough estimates of what it costs.
- Visa options. Should I try to sort out a business visa here (self-employed, so that could be tricky) or should I just get a longer tourist visa and sort it out there?
Any other thoughts/recommendations/insights/rants/raves would also be appreciated.
Thanks again

-best neighborhood...hmm i'd say the xuhui district is the best/most convenient, plenty of everything there.
-visa this i'm not too sure. probably just get a tourist visa first and extend/change later if u need.
-u can find a lot of "service apts" in shanghai. basically furnished apts. w/ some basic services. i'd say that for $1000-1500(USD), u can get a decent 2 bdr in a good area.
good luck |
