There are some cold meds that have nighttime pills (some antihistamine that makes you sleepy). They work for me when I have trouble sleeping. But they are not sleeping pills per se. |

Yes, just go to any pharmacy tell them you can't sleep, they will give you something.
I was looking for Melatonin pills for my husband and the guy sold me a chinese pill. It worked a bit for him, but even after we bought melatonin the result wasn't so good. |

Zopiclone is what is called Lunestra in the US. Don't make a habit of taking it, but it will give you a good night's sleep, without being groggy in the morning.
If it's truly the noise that's preventing your sleep, try some earplugs first. |

Yeah, or better still, move to a new compound.
I have been here 5 + years, never had a problem with noise, so am I lucky?
Or are you unlucky?
I have never paid more than 3,700 for a place.
You are paying much more than than that, so you should be demanding satisfaction. (including noise).
Frankly, I think it is the shxt from your biz. that is screwing your brain, and you need to sort that out first, then you will sleep better.
You only need sleeping pills if you are not getting a nice fuxk, now and then or are so totally immersed in your business, that you live it day and night.
Just my thoughts! |

Thanks Guys
I will go to the pharmacy and get the Zopiclone, I did try the Benedryl and walking, hot choc. but it did not work.
I think its the new metro line they are building it goes under our building or near it. Also there seems to be more activity in building in Shanghai probably due to the expo.
we have been spoiled where we areas it is normally very quite in our building. , I dont want to move from it, we love being here.
Yes Monalisalee, I am stressed as well , maybe you are having to many happy ending massages. |

Too many happy ending massages leads to stress? Only if you're the one handing them out I would've thought.
Melatonin available over the counter at Watson's. Works for me when I need it. |

be careful with zoplicone / stillnox - it is benzodiazepine like.
''they'' claim it is not habit forming, but it is.
maybe try tylenol PM first.
... how about earplugs ? |

Hi there,
besides the earplugs
here is a simple method (I know it may sound stupid BUT it works )especially when you can't sleep because of stress.
Step in your shower, turn on the warm water, take the hand shower set, start with your feet, then lower legs, tighs, slowly turn the water to veeeeery cold. Skin of your legs should feel cold in the end!!
When finished, don't towell your legs completely, they should still be a little or very wet.
Go to bed like this. (with towell wrapped around wet legs, maybe woolen socks )
You should feel calmer now |

My observation is that Chinese Melatonin doesn’t help at all, by the way also not all US products.
Once Melatonin works, it is amazing, I feel actually that I had dreams all night long. Taken for 2 or 3 days, it corrects my rhythm greatly.
One comment to the Parkway guys, some posts before. What ever I need or asked for, I never got it but a lot of help and freightless comments. Having a real problem they never really helped me.
We do not need your comments or advertisement here. |

@ Rezitator "freightless". Guess you mean "fruitless".
They, (Parkway) do advertize a lot here, which says something.
Good ones do not need to.
So, Melatonin, "corrects my rhythm greatly"
So what is that exactly?
I am male, by the way.

Thanks guys, I did buy the zopiclone and it worked well but the next night I tried the tylonol Pm, totally weird I was so wired, I did not feel quite right at all., had to take half a tablet at about 4am of the Zopiclone.
I did do some reading on this drug and reviews did say it was an addictive drug, I will be careful.
By the way it was not difficult to find it the first pharmacy I went to had it, I was surprised how readily they gave it over, as I had gone to the same pharmacy a few months ago for some antibiotics ( I had a bad eye and throat infection ) and they said NO!! I had to have a test first. A cant figure it out.

zopiclone is a good short term solution. 7.5 mg is equal to 3mg Lunesta Try breaking it in Half as may be good enough, don't take for more than two weeks consecutively . I would not take the PM, in China you have to be careful as they put caffeine in a lot of pain pills not always listed.
I would take Melatonin 3-6mg ,every Night as it is a very powerful anti-oxidant, also make make sure you take your vitamins in particular the B group.
As strange as it seems Warm Milk before bed does help as the Amino acid Tryptophan is released by heating the milk.
Good luck |

If you take too many and wake up for a pee you get to see the green people, a room full of em - no joke and that wasn't just me
And after a while they don't work so good anymore so you get stressed you can't sleep and take another - if ur on them too long most definitely habit forming |

I had to deal with a new tunnel being built next to my complex. Thankfully after 2 years, it's just about done and I'm looking forward to 24hr construction noise being replaced with 24hr traffic honking.
Zoplicone and eszopiclone/Lunesta are way too strong for me and leave me groggy for 18+ hours, not to mention leaving an acutely bitter taste in mouth for the duration. Chopping up pills makes it all the more likely to get a intense bitterness if powder touches wrong part of your tongue. Orange juice helps a little.
My standard regimen has been Zolpidem Tartrate (Ambien in US, Stillnox in Asia). I experience 6 hrs of sleepiness with no morning hangover. I've used this on daily basis extended periods over past 6 years. So far no sleepwalking or sleeptalking incidents.
In China, this requires doctor prescription, and pharmacy is only allowed to dispense 7 tablets each time because someone just had to go off and abuse this drug for hallucinations at 10x-20x therapeutic dose. I go to a Western clinic so doc sees me once every few months and just calls in refills for me each week. Alternately, I go to Hong Kong on business trips where doctors can prescribe 90 tablets at once.
Lastly, I use Zaleplon / Sonata occasionally for early morning wakenings. Effect only lasts for an hour or two. I get my supply in US. I have not been able to find this drug at pharmacies in China or Hong Kong. Not sure if that has changed now that Zaleplon has gone off patent...
Ambien is "addictive" and habit forming, but not in the scary way that cocaine or heroin or alcohol is addicative. During my occasional vacations to quiet countrysides, quitting cold turkey gave me 2 nights of very light sleep until my natural sleep mechanism kicked in. Nothing doing compared to going cold turkey off a caffeine addiction.
I also supplement sleep drugs with in ear headphones with real isolating foam. Cheap iPod earbuds will not filter out squat. Check out Westone UM-1 and Shure line. The foam isolation cuts out a lot of high frequency ambient sound - don't expect to be able to hear the guy screaming into his cellphone next to you. The single driver models are small enough to wear comfortably in your ear for extended periods and when sleeping on your side. Then I pump in some soothing brown noise or whatever other relaxation music to drown out the remaining low frequency construction noise. This worked especially well during a period when I was working night shift to match US hours and had to sleep during the day when noise was highest.
I would stay away from Tylenol PM - it's the antihistamines in the drug that make you drowsy. I keep a jar of benedryl/diphenhydramine (antihistamine) if I get hit with >10 mosquito bites in a day. Unfortunately, although anhihistamines have a strong sedative effect, they also tend to destroy sleep structure (personally, I never have dreams with antihistamines) and leave me feeling thoroughly unrefreshed. Also dries out every membrane in your body... |
