Post subject: Victoria Kindergarten Pudong - Local or Bilingual?

My daughter is 4.5 and we've lived here for 2 years. Like most parents, we've hoped for her to pick up some chinese language skills while here. She was immersed in a local program (Yew Wah Kindergarten) since 3yrs so she understands alot of chinese, but is reluctant to speak it - and now especially so since coming back from our time in the U.S.

I'm considering switching her preschool to Victoria Kindergarten - Pudong campus.

Any comments out there re: the local chinese program vs. the bilingual?
Curriculum? Cost? do your kids enjoy it?

Thanks for the advice! Very Happy

Hi,
I am looking for a very good Chinese or then bilingual kindergarten for our daughter starting next year. Is this Yew Wah in Pudong? If so, how did you like it? I'd appreciate your thoughts... Smile

Just enrolled my son in the K3 chinese track at Victoria in Pudong/century park. The cost is about 1700rmb per month (800rmb if you live in the catchment area). The # of kids is higher than the international class (over 3700rmb per month) at 25 or so. The school is starting out so possible they might be adding extra classes. i found the key is to engage a non-english speaking ayi that will 'play' with my son...it forces him to talk to her in chinese. We've only had her for 7 months and he actually will speak to her and his teachers in chinese.

Don't have much personal experience since we've just started. But have heard complaints that there is an amount of homework every night. I'm not concerned since I want my son to be ready to handle the HW load at a local school for next year.
