| Post subject: The beauty of Chinese music |
We already have a thread 'discussing' crappy Chinese music. Let's use this thread to discuss the beauty of Chinese mucis. I am not talking about music from 50-60 years ago, but talking about singers like Jay Chou, David Tao, Lee Hom Wang, Wong Faye, and many other Taiwanese, Chinese or Cantonese artists.
We started to talk about David Tao in that other thread and I'd like to continue that discussion right here. I've also managed to get hold of Jay Chou's new record, November's Chopin, its an awesome record.
If you don't like Chinese music, get out of this thread, we all like and dislike certain kinds of music. Let us have our own thread about the beauty of Chinese music, please. |

Talking about Jay Chou's latest album. I really like tracks 3 (fa ru xue), 4 (hei se mao yi), 6 (feng) and 10 (shan hu hai). If anyone knows who the girl is on track 10, let me know. Her name is Lara, but that's all I know.

Thats as silly as expecting someone to like/dislike all "Western music"

No one has said that, read the first post, I don't like Chinese music made in 1930, I like the music from the artists mentioned above. If you like other types of Chinese music, please enlighten us. If you hate Chinese music in general, please use another thread to state your purposes. |

Dear Rio, it must be a crime if I dont come up with something about Jay Chou in a thread about Chinese music. 
By far I only have the experience of listening to "hei se mao yi" in his lastest album. And I would say that he didnt disappoint me after such a break since the previous album "qi li xiang". Beautiful lyric, excellent rhythmicity and his voice sounds a little blue as before, like in the "dong feng po". Sorry no idea about the other 3 songs that you have mentioned above, but "Ye Qu" is said to be very fascinating too, how do you think of that one?
As for David Tao, I am listening to "ni ai wo hai shi ta" for a week and it still keeps laying in my MP3, really love it. It is a pity that I have missed David's concert several months ago, my friend who joined in that activity told me that David is bloody cool at every seconds and performed very well. Rio do you have any other good songs from him to recommend?
Am also a big fan of "Shun Zi", used to listen to <Dear friend> and <My friend Betty Su> a lot, wonderful woman. |

This morning as I was riding the bus to work, our driver played this musics which I swore each drove goosebumps... but then... after a while, I found the musics're actually nice. Well, apparently it's Anhui's traditional opera, sung by the artist who looked as ancient as Teresa Teng.
I never liked opera songs, now I thought I would get the disc for dad. He enjoys torturing everyone at home with opera songs (even thou he didnt understand a word himself). I would do a little favour for mum at least...
My knowledge of Chinese songs is limited due to my brain capacity in digesting the meaning. Ever since I came to a small village en have to speak in Mandarin, I then had this one song translated for me.. it's called Tong Hua. I know it's very Chinese, can sound way too crappy for everyone. But this is a second song I understand the meaning, of coz after Yue Liang Tai Biao Wo De Xin...  |

I went to the concert of David Tao a couple months ago. He didn't try to impress by any fancy clothes or stage decors...very sincere music making...yet a little dissapointing as I was expecting more live remix. It turned out to be a pretty straightforward performance with conventional instrumentation and arrangements. He could've done something cooler!!  |

who sings yue liang keyi dai biao wo de xin?? A male singer with flu voice?? kinda like him... he's like Chinese' Enrique Iglesias. Not as girlie as most guy singers.
en there's one Chinese, Taiwanese or Singaporean gal who sing ming ming wo ai ni. I like her alrite, dunno her name. There's another one, not Stephanie... there is one other, I like many of her songs but I have no clue what her name is. |

Hei se mao yi is ok, so is Ye Qu, but Ye Qu is not one of my favorites as I like the slower songs a bit more. Same goes for La Se Feng Bao.
You should try David Tao's whole album, the same one which also includes ai wo hai shi ta. I also like Wu Yuan, Susan Shuo, Cang Ai and Ai Shi ge shen ma dong xi. But in general, I would recommend his album The Great Leap. If you ever come to know if or when David Tao will be coming back, let me know. Or Jay Chou of course. |

I probably know which song you are talking about. Does it go like this?
Wang le you duo jiu, zai mei ting dao ni, dui wo shuo ni zui ai de gu shi...etc.? The singer is Michael Kong, also known as Guang Liang. Great singer! I have his album, Fairy Tale as well. Try it, the rest is just as good. |

I find "Tong Hua" is very popular in Shanghai. Some weeks ago I had to listen to it almost every day. Hate it. Dunno why, I dislike all the songs of Guang Liang. His voice is way too girly. |
