Post subject: The Turk restaurant (Xiangyang mkt)....Where are you???

[color=red]There used to be a sweet small restaurant called the Turk just outside the old Xiangyang Market. When all that got destroyed I hope they moved. Anyone know where they went? They had great kebabs and stuff for really cheap. Please, I'm dying for them! Question

Everyone wants to know where is TURK!!
I miss that food soooo much!

I saw that turkish place at the Museum, but the name is different, everything looks different, so, I don't think is the same...
Anybody here had been there? is the food the same that it was at TURK??

I miss Turk too.

I'd also recommend the Turkish/Uyghur restaurant at the Sci&Tech Museum plaza for a moderately priced meal. Not as cheap as Turks, but definitely tasty - great nang and diced noodles, and of course, Hapi black beer. Nice guys too.

was that the place with the small windowed kitchen downstairs with the takeaway and the upstairs seating area - that place was good. they sold those small turkish "breads" with the fillings which were yummy. haven't been to that area since xiangyang closed down - i wonder how the element fresh is doing there without the market around. did they tear down the building in front with the RBT and Yong He Da Wang?

I'm a personal acquaintance of the owner of Turk's, who I'm sad to say is still seeking funding for a new location near the old one. Unfortunately I dropped my wad on another establishment however if anyone is willing to take part ownership I can put you two in touch!

The author refers to Turk as a 'greasy spoon'. What? 'Greasy spoon' does no justice to Turk. Turk was spotlessly clean and served some of the least oily food in town. The author seems to have taken the cheap prices as a starting point, then interviewed their keyboard and ended up with a string of cliches.
