| Post subject: Local ONLY health cover |
I am looking for a new health insurance policy that will provide me with private healthcare, which means private hospitals/clinics, in mainland China only. Does anyone have any experience with Ping An China, or do they simply cover you for the cost of local state-owned facilities?
Anyone know how I go about getting one of these policies in Shanghai?
I have emailed many brokers asking for this only for them to come back with worldwide policies which is useless for me as I wont be travelling much this coming year - i.e. mainly staying in China. And when I do travel, I'll just take out short trip insurance.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks |

Bupa HK had me covered for 7 years in China with access to private hospitals/clinics. Only trouble is you pay 1st and claim later in HK. Consultation is RMB300 max claim (good enough with those so-called VIP in Govt hospitals) but you get almost unlimited treatment claims. Mine is an average cover BTW.
Ping An do have an expat cover that meets your needs. It's about RMB5000 plus dental a year ago. I had considered that but because my Co is paying so only bupa is applicable. This agent (a friend's recommendation) speaks decent English - PM me for his number. But he's based in SH. |

Hi Shangstar,
I work for an Insurance Broker in China and I think I may have an option that would suit you.
Please note, when including the private facilities in China, the cost for medical care is comparable to the USA. The premium will reflect this and will seem much closer to international policies than it does to the local plans that cover government hospitals only.
If you send an e-mail to info@oneworldcover.com I will get back to you within a few days. |
