My baby got a flu shot when he was approx 7 months old: small babies get two half-doses.

Highly recommended not just for the baby, but for the whole family. Think about this Bird Flu scenario in China this winter - small Bird Flu outbreak, someone in your family gets a seasonal flu (having not obtained a flu shot), goes to clinic, gets quarantined with other people with similar symptoms, and contacts the Bird Flu from other patients. Yes, the flu shot does not protect against H5N1, but it will save you from getting exposed in a quarantine set-up, by keeping you away from the clinic healthy and free from the seasonal influenza.

We are lukcy that that winter isn short and mild, but next winter may be different.

Would certainly recommend it for the above reasons and the fact that the vaccine is safe and the less you have to deal with local medical facilitiies the better. So keep your baby healthy, and if your baby did not have it last season will need two doses to gain sufficient levels of immunity. Make sure you are getting imported product when you do this, or at least reputable JV pharma company product.

If it is a first shot then you need another dose a month after.

It only gives you the immunization for a year so it means you need to have it every year.

It does not mean you will not get the flu, you may have it but in a LOW form.
